Damper Control for Garage Exhaust Fan

I have a large mixed flow exhaust fan in my garage ceiling to vent air through the roof during painting or welding. I’d like like to add a damper to the inlet to prevent heat loss in winter, but with a 14’ ceiling, I’d like electric control over it. What kind of controller would I need for variable damper positioning? It’s obviously not part of an HVAC system or thermostat, so is there a simple analog dimmer/rheostat that could control the damper position?

Thanks!

Ayuh,....... Click Here, 'n scroll down to page D-29,.......

I scrounged a few of these electric damper controls from a job-site dumpster,.....

They'll do the job for ya, But,.....
They go full open when powered up, then to full closed when the power is turned off,.....
No partial openin',.....

Also, they come in different voltages, 24V, 'n 120V anyways,.....
Mine are the 120V versions,.....

Have 1 on my homemade outdoor wood boiler for well over 10 years now, with not a single hiccup,....

If you want to manually control your camper just get a 120v exhaust damper and hook it up normal 120v switch like you use for lights. They are normally sold in 6" or 8" round tubes.

Just curious, why not a gravity damper? I use one on both my welding table hood and also my kitchen vent hood. Opens when fan runs, shuts itself when fan stops. They made a tremendous difference in those cold winter downdrafts, and keeps the climate in the room more stable year around. You obviously will not have variable control.
