good day all
I recently bought and setup a danmar d7 4post lift, the only thing left is to figure out how it goes down! the safety locks click into place as it goes up but to bring it down there is nothing available to disengage them. I know I have to raise the lift a bit before lowering but what am i doing wrong??? any ideas? please find attached pic of safety lock

Right up front where the power unit is, typically left front post. There is supposed to be a lever attached into the front crossbeam. It is your lock release lever. As the lift raises, the lever will move back and forth as the locks engage. Search google for "danmar D7 manual" . download PDF manual and it clearly shows it on page 7. Setup of the locks are on page 11.

thanks so much for the reply.
The "manual" safety locks where you connect the rods is not a problem, they are setup and work well. it is the safety lock on the inside of the lift that are not connected to the safety linkage that I don't understand how they disengage.

You have assembled the lift wrong. There are 2 sets of locks one manual and 1 sets up if a cable breaks, looks like you have the cable safety brake on wrong

Is there a car on the lift or are you just raising the platform by itself?
Search my recent post about this and the read the replies. The internal nylon sliders can be tight on new lifts causing them to hang up if there is no weight on the lift.

As mentioned, you have routed the cables incorrectly. Check the diagram in the manual again, and note how the cable passes through the lock.

so when do the safety locks engage? are they always disengaged except in the situation where a cable breaks? if i route the cable on the other side of the locks it will hold back the safety lock and not engage, maybe when a cable breaks they will lockinto place?
