I could use some advice on my purchase for a Dannmar two post lift (d-10cx). I purchased it on January 28 through Jegs. They emailed me and charged my credit card the full amount and advised the shipment date would be Feb 28. I have followed up and they are saying the shipment date is now April 28. I have paid the credit card off now and I do not have a lift to show for the money. What I am worried about is with a credit card purchase you only have 60 days from your statement date to dispute the charge if their are any issues. I have called Dannmar and they said I am on the list for shipment for April 28.

Do I take the risk and wait for another 60 days and lose my rights to dispute? What is your opinion?

Absolutely dispute the charge. Otherwise you lose all your rights. They can always charge your card again.
I would call them and tell them what the situation is. Communication is key.

Shouldn't they have just put a purchase hold on your card for the amount of the sale? Usually a small amount of money is charged until the item has been shipped.

Very odd. I have bought thousands of dollars of product from Jegs and can tell you that they do not hit your card until the item is shipped.................

I would guess they never intended to ship this lift, nor any lift. They were planning to dump the order to the manufacturer, and the manufacturer didn't have it.

That is a pretty simple problem and they need to address that.

I was hoping they just placed an authorization charge but they charged it completely as a purchase. I feel both companies are reliable and are not trying to cheat me but it just gives me a sense of worry to have $3000 just floating in the air for months. When I called Dannmar, they said the shipment would definitely be in April 28 and then ship out to me. I guess I'll roll the dice and keep my fingers crossed.

Talk is cheap. Dispute the charge and contact Jegs that you do not want your card charged until the product is shipped.

Even with the best of intentions things happen and when they do, you're out $3K and no lift.

As tinmanwpk says, "communication is the key."

Update: Decided to cancel the Dannmar purchase. Received the credit and ordered an Atlas OH10. Upon ordering the new lift, I cannot believe it was shipped the next day. Unfortunately, upon receipt the whole side of the tower was scraped down to bare metal from the fork lift. So now I get to refuse the shipment and proceed with phone calls to get a replacement. Why would the freight shipment not be more careful with their merchandise? I'm sure they will end up being the one to pay for damage.
