I installed a MaxJax some years ago. Works well and does what it needs to do. I cannot complain about mine. I also got it from Costco at the time.

I just installed a Dannmar MX6 that my friend ordered from Babco, a Canadian distributor for Dannmar.

Well if I would have received that lift in the condition it came it, I would have thrown it back at Babco and Dannmar.

Why bother powder coating the damn thing when it arrives as scratched up in as many places as it was. This thing looked like it was a demo unit or maybe even used. Packaging was pathetic! Packaging installation bolts that were loose, etc.

There were other parts of the lift system I was not impressed with compared to my original MaxJax.

I received my Danmar lift in the same manner. Quite a bit of large scratches down to metal. Wasn’t very happy.

Do you think most of the problems was from the shipping company?

If that really is the case, then the "plastic wrap" that these lifts come wrapped in, is inadequate. What does Dannmar expect?

I have another friend considering a MaxJax. I am sure he would not be impressed with the condition they arrive in.

I may have been a lucky one. Besides the extra wait after when they told me it would arrive, my MX-6 arrived in great condition, with only a little scratch or two.

It all has to do with the shipping company. I got mine in February of this year. Have been very happy with it.

When I received my MX6 it had a few rough spots on the powder coating of the heaviest columns. Not bad enough to exchange but I was disappointed.

I have to think it’s a combination of Dannmar keeping costs as low as possible to make money on these and make them available at a price point consumers will buy, and equal blame to the shipping companies handling industrial equipment as quick as they can and putting the burden back on the manufacturer for packaging quality for a scuff-free delivery.

For Dannmar’s part in this, the lift isn’t surrounded in a crate on a pallet and they try to use the structure of its parts to bolt everything into a single mass. The shipper moves at much freight with as little labor and equipment as possible to be competitive and get the shipment. They each take their chances on the likelyhood of damage claims.

The consumer is in the middle and satisfaction is something you pick your battles with time and effort required often exchanged for the lowest cost. “Value added service” may be lost in the internet marketplace era.

Alex,

I'm sorry to hear your friend's shipment didn't arrive in good condition.
I can assure you the problem is with the shipping companies.
We actually cut ties with one due to how poorly they handled our shipments.

With that said, this is how the lift looks when it leaves our warehouse in California.
These sometimes travel across the country so it stops at numerous terminals. Unfortunately, since it stops at so many terminals, we never know which one handles it poorly until it gets to the customer.
We always encourage our customers to never sign for the shipment if they're not satisfied with the condition when it gets to them.
It does happen sometimes where the damages are concealed so the customer doesn't see said damages until they unpack the lift.

I've seen lifts travel all the way to Maine with not even a scratch and yet a lift that traveled within California be completely beat up.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Julie Demdam

Just in case anyone else is looking at old threads in order to make a decision (like I did). I actually joined to do that.

I ordered my m6 a couple of weeks ago directly from the manufacturer and it came in a completely enclosed wooden crate box. The power unit was in a strong cardboard box, strapped to the outside. I was pleasantly surprised after having seen this an other older pictures in threads.
