Dasco Pro on Clearance

I just got back from Lowe's and saw that they are getting rid of USA made Dasco Pro products and replacing them with Bostitch made in china pieces. {{Grumble grumble}} On the plus side they're clearanceing the Dasco stuff out at about 50% off. I've only checked the one store in my area so I'm not sure if they're doing it nation wide but thought some of you might want to keep an eye out.

Edit: I should add that not every Dasco Pro product was on clearance...yet. I imagine they'll soon be though.

I went in Lowes today and looked at the Dasco stuff. Only thing on clearance was the 14" prybars..50% off. They had four in stock so I bought all four. I'll keep a couple, give one to one of my employees and give the last to my BIL for Christmas.

Bostitch stuff looks nice but made in China/Taiwan and Mexico. I imagine losing a seller like Lowes is going to put a big dent in Dasco's financial health.

What else does Dasco make? I don't think they even have their own website.

I have a small prybar, and I know they make punches/chisels, but I think that's about it.

At mine they had some brick, masonry, floor, and cold chisels on clearance. There were some pins and punches that had been moved into the clearance area but not marked down yet. The larger pin/punch set and smaller cold chisel sets were still regular price.

At the Ashtabula, OH Lowes, none of the Dasco Pro products were on clearance for 50% off.

I saw the new Bostitch hammers and pin punches on the shelves at this Lowes. The hammers have a 100 year warranty. The hammers are made in Taiwan. The Bostitch pin punches are made in Thailand.

Went by Lowe's again today and they had put the the 12 Piece Punch and Chisel Kit on clearance for $15. It's regularly $30. Picked up one for me and one for my dad.

Elroy took advantage of this inside information and paid a visit to one of the local Lowe's stores hoping to make a few choice purchases at a discount. Discovered their Dasco inventory very limited in selection and the prices were on par with the China made Bostitch stuff. :headscrat

They can keep all of it. :wtf:

Yeah I've noticed them replacing the Dasco stuff with the Bostitch stuff at the same price. I'm sure it's a great deal for Lowe's. Joe Blow doesn't know/possibly care where the stuff comes from but Lowe's is making double (or more) the profit. Same as what is happening with Craftsman (full polish flare wrenches).

Was in Lowes again today and the only Dasco on sale were two center punches marked down 50%. I took both of them.

Our True Value carries Enderes punches and chisels. I've bought a few from there before. Looks like all my buys will be from there now.

Elroy was in a different Lowes this afternoon and the LAST Dasco this store had was this 7/8" Cold Chisel

We'll take it for $3.46

The equivalent Made in China Bostitch was over $6

It's getting to be slim pickings on these so move fast.

Got lucky tonight and got the big set for $15. It was not marked down on the shelf yet so nobody before me scooped it. Rang up 1/2 price at the register.

DASCO Pro Mason's Chisels: 1-3/4" $1.17, 3-1/2" $1.29
DASCO Pro Brick Set: 4" $1.58
DASCO Pro Target Guard Mason's Chisel: 2-1/4" $1.91

The lowes by me has 4 of the chisel/punch sets but they are still 30.00

I'm wondering if it's the same case as Robert:

I'll try Lowe's today and see what they say.

I took all the non-clearance marked Dasco up to the counter today at my Lowe's and it was all regular price. They have it all shoved in a little corner and the display is full of the new brand.

That ***** you would think that kind of thing would be automated. The Lowes near my parents had them not marked down. Mine had one set not marked down that rang up marked down.

I picked up a center punch and a pin punch(last 2 they had at my store) for $1.60 each, they had a couple of 6 packs of punches/chisels for $6, should have picked one of those up too.

I'm going to go over to the Lowe's by work tomorrow to see if they ring up on sale there. I could use a few odd different chisels and punches to add to my collection.

This really grinds my gears!

I started seeing Bostitch tools at Lowes weeks ago, but it seems like all of a sudden Estwing and Dasco Pro tools are just gone.

The only tools still on clearance near me are Stanley nail sets.
