Data Center? / Connecting Future Home to Current Shop

I am about to finish the interior walls of my 40x60 pole barn. The rear 480 square feet is going to be my man cave / office and will have a full bathroom with shower, sink, toilet, and urinal. I already have the electrical roughed in but am curious if anyone has installed some type of data center or hub (may it has a different name?) so that when a home is built down the road I can tie into its satellite, dsl, and phone signals. I am planning on running PVC between the house and the shop where I can chase CAT5 and / or other wire through at a later date.

I am also considering tying in a few smoke detectors with the home's system so that in case there is a fire in either structure, all of the alarms will trigger. A family friend recently had a fire in his detached garage and before he knew it was happening lost 3 classic cars to the fire. I believe that this will just require running 14-3.

Is there some type of box that I can rough into at this point before I finish the walls and the connect the house to later? Thanks in advance.

Wow, great planning that you're doing Matador. I'd recommend you have home runs in shop to your data center, but keep the "junction box" on an interior wall so you can get back in there if needed later. Also might be good idea to use wood sheeting on wall near junction box rather than sheetrock (thus you could have a removable panel).

House can use same home runs to junction box, then just tie house junction box to the shop junction box.

Also pull an extra CAT5e/6 between the buildings as it might be handy for phone, security, etc. Finally, keep pull string in that conduit for future changes.

Great thinking for tying the detached shop in with smoke detectors of the house. This should be standard practice for safety.

Good luck and keep the pics coming with your progress !
