Dating a Parker No. A Bench Vise

I picked up a Parker bench vise that is identified as a No. A. See the attached photos. This seems very odd, since just about any other vise I've ever seen has a number designation. Can anyone provide any information about how old it might be? Is this one of the first vises that Parker manufactured? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hemi, yep that looks like mine. Thanks for pointing it out. I never would have seen it. Unfortunately there isn't a date that I could see.

It's definitely an older vise but I think on the very first vises Parker made the saddle was screwed in from the top of the chip guard .
