Thanks Guys

My wife calls it my vacation home since I can't afford one anymore.

It's going to be a storage and small repair garage.

We are going to start building a 24 x 24 loft area soon.

We have jack trusses over the loft area and next to the loft area will be a 2 post jack system with a clearance height of 20'

The height inside the rest of the building is 15'

I'll send more pics when we are working on the loft area

It is in the design phase now

Can I put my house in the other half?????? I could fit both my house and my "to be built" garage in your shop. Looks awesome:bowdown:

Most of my lot (house, garage and side/backyard) is about that size, that's a serious work-space!

I think I may have seen a post today on The Corvette Forum for your garage. It is awesome. Would love to see more pictures including the upstairs. Enjoy!

Very nice, you can never build em too big!!
I see you used metal for the ceiling, I am thinking about doing the same. Any problems doing it that way? Also, I have the radiant heat in the floor too but have not put in the heating plant yet. The company I am useing suggest a water heater to heat the floor. Is that a tankless unit you are using? Any problems with that type of unit for heating the floor?

Thanks for all of the nice remarks

I used a Rannai Heater....180,000 BTU...90% efficent

It's tankless and it works great.

It heats fast and it is quiet and it's small

It's running me around $80 to $100 a month so far in Syracuse on natural gas.

As far as the sheetmetal.... if you get a manlift it's easy to install

The sheets are 20' x 4' and they look great.

I put R38 over the sheets

If you have any other questions, let me know

Dave, what temp do you keep the shop? Also, where did you get the metal for the ceiling? The outfit that built my pole building only sells sheet metal that's 32" wide.

The unit is set for 120*

I have the room set at 68*

So far, so good.

The gas bill first month around $80 - $100

We'll see what the next month brings

As far as the sheet metal...you can go to a local lumber yard and they can order what you want.

I think Home Deep Stoke even sells it

Let me know if you have any other questions

I'll post some pics of the Loft next week

The Loft room is almost done

We've been working on the stairs to the loft ( Manly Man Room ) for the past couple of weeks on and off as time permits.

I'm not a carpenter so it has been design and build as you go and 100 trips to Home Deep Stroke.

I'll post some pics tomorrow

Believe it or not... the inside walls are walk-in freezer panels.

They are 4" thick

1/4" steel plate inside and out and 3 1/2" of compessed fibreglass

They have an R38 rating

I used 2 part epoxy paint and it was a lot of painting

3,150' of wall area but's it hard as a rock and covers great

what type of building is it? -
4" thick freezer doors for interior walls??? !!! what does something like that cost and how do you attach them??? They have to be really heavy no?

It started as a pole barn and I went way deep.

The freezer panels are heavy, but the 4" panel gives you the same R value as a 12" wall.

I have a contact that does freezer panel work.

These panels are used and some are beat up. ( you fill the holes and dents with caulk and sand )

I hung them with 2 X 2 steel angle framed into the poles and then caulked all the panels and painted them with the 2 part epoxy paint.

The epoxy covers everything.

The panels are steel so you can drill into them and hang stuff off of them.

I will be sending pics shortly of my loft room, it is almost done

What else is there to do in Syracuse in the winter?

That's all the cars we have for now.

I can't afford anymore, although we are always looking.

Went way, way, way over budget.

Actually they are the inside freezer panels like on the inside of a walk in cooler.

They are 4' wide by 8' and 10' long

1/4" plate on the outside and inside and 3 3/4" of compressed insulation R38 value.

They are heavy and hard to work with, but when all is said and done it was well worth it

We just finished the loft room.

I'll post some pics this weekend.

I've got to start working on my cars before the weather breaks:)

The garage has been alot of work, but well worth it
