I was having a discussion about antique and vintage brass a couple days ago and I forgot about this guy haha.

•Yes, it works.

•No, I don't know how to use it properly, working on organizing and a lot of other things. (Three deaths, a divorce, move, putting a kid in college, and a new relationship in 18 months is quite a bit so bear with me lol)

•It's complete as far as I can tell?

•I haven't really given it a significant amount of effort, but on first glance, didn't see another one with this style/color of case+the serial number (they all match)

•Didn't see one here so I thought you all might enjoy.

That brings back some memories. My old man had one just like that he and occasionally me holding the stick and used for laying out pools.

That's awesome! Any idea on the case coloration? I've been putting together a kit on it basically. I have a weird hangup on learning how to do things everyone relies on phones and computers for now. I try to learn a little bit of everything.

I'm admittedly awful at math but I'm going to sit down and work on surveyor's stuff soon.

I have a Craftsman transit that was made for them by Leupold, the same people that make rifle scopes. It was made about 60 miles from my house! I use it now and then, and it is still accurate, with perfect optics.

That is NOT a transit, it is a Dumpy level.
Apparently by definition, as it has vertical and horizontal axis adjustments, it is a transit. Thank you for a reason to learn that difference though.

I'm going to read more into whether that specific model was considered one for some reason, but from what I can see, it's a transit.

There is a level with accessories in a fitted case like Squirrels Tools in a shop near here for $40. I thought about it but I'm trying hard not to get a third DW instrument which might constitute a collection. As is I have both a level and a transit by DW. I think that's enough. Ed.
