Like most of you, I pick stuff up from time to time and return it to service. I figured I'd make a running post instead of individual ones.
I ran by a thrift/junk shop today and found a few things. One was this rusty Snap-On breaker bar. I bought it as part of a group of stuff so I don't have an exact price but I'd guess $1 or $2 for it.
It had a bit of rust on it. I hit it with a wire wheel to knock a lot of the rust off. Then it was into some Evaprorust to get into the nooks and crannies. Next, it was back to the wire wheel as Evaprorust seems to leave a gray coating on things sometimes. Finally, off to the buffing wheel and a wipe down with some oil.
Much better now and ready to be used. I found the date code on it. Made in 1952. Not bad for a 65 year old tool.
I'll post more random things as I come upon them. I've done the same thing for a while at the site in my signature if you're bored and like rusty/greasy stuff.
