I'm dayid -- I've been around on and off for years. I maintain a little tool-shrine that is my vise wiki. Moved around from Central FL to Central TX to North GA before finally settling down and buying a place here in North GA. Been on this site nearly 10 years -- gone from very active to a year+ without logging in. Added 3 children since then, moved at least 6 times, and focus has changed more times than I can count.

I've got a nice little basement garage where I work on cars and some things, but my intention is to use this building on my back acreage for bigger projects. My wife calls it "the barn". It's not a barn, but it's what family and my children call it too now, so it's stuck.

This is my own little bit of 18'x18' that I desperately need to take control of. These are ideally "before" pictures. The shape it's in now is shameful and is the result of stuff the former owner left behind (mowers, equipment, some tools, etc) and my own junk I brought in with me. We moved into the house in May 2019 - and with replacing ~4,000sq/ft of flooring, many electrical appliances, adding propane and piping for it, etc -- this building hasn't been the focus of much effort.... yet.

No fancy plans, just organize and make it useful.

So: 18x18, 9' to bottom of loft, 2 roll-up doors (one that is useable), 1 window, 1 door, 3/4 loft (7' central ceiling height in loft).

Cross-posting this from the Let's see your workbench thread - trying to actually get traction on improving (and posting):

A friend of mine moved into an apartment probably 10 or 12 years ago and didn't bring this 2x4 bench with him. So I got it with the little wood clamp on it.

Over the years I've added my main little Reed 23 vise, a bike stand/vise, an old drill-press vise that I use for random other types of clamping, wheels, and a few other things that have come and gone.

I've intended to build a larger, more focused workbench for years. In that time I've moved 4 times through 3 states and over 2000 miles - and everytime I try to come up with time/effort/good reason to make a new bench - I just don't have one.

Perfect example of things that "just work".

Spent some time today sorting through "stuff". Some hasn't been touched since I moved in - other bits that the former owner left behind and hadn't been touched in longer.

Outside of a bit of dusting the biggest success was just putting up some simple 2x4 horizontals on one wall so I could get some of the basic yard tools uncluttered so that we can find them when needed.6a299fb649c0eb03df3b0d650763a14f.jpg

While not my ideal setup it was a massive improvement over the clutter it was before. With working more on our back acres and garden recently this was desperately needed.
