Anyone have one of these?
I'm seeing very little info about them.
One of the few threads out there mentions Wilton as the mfg but I thought they just branded stuff as well. I also can't find a Wilton equivalent model anywhere.

Oh wait, here is the Wilton: https://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/general/model-number-wilton-drill-press-204684/ Op doesn't have a model number or any info. How odd.

A google search mainly just brings up old auction listings.
YouTube from one of the auction sites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=9&v=UyHGD4JFobo&feature=emb_logo

One listing on VM: http://vintagemachinery.org/photoindex/detail.aspx?id=9110
One listing for the Wilton on VM: http://vintagemachinery.org/photoindex/detail.aspx?id=9544

Found a catalog with the Wilton version: https://www.sterlingmachinery.com/m...rane-Metal-Working-Drill-Presses-Brochure.pdf

Ok, so I wasn't just asking for fun. I just got back with mine and it looks pretty nice.
MUCH bigger then they look in the pics, very similar to Powermatic etc.

So, I grabbed this for the retirement light and of course the price was good for a reeves drive dp. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this one yet... If it has a 3 inch column maybe I'll keep it and sell the PM1150, but it looks like a 2 3/4.

Uploaded the FB pic... I have not seen another bench top model anywhere. The bench top base has T-slots! Nice, an actual useful feature on a base.

Just brought it in and it is a 2 3/4 column, and heavy. That table is 14x11" and is just a hair bigger then my PM. If I flip it I'll probably convert it to freestanding as it is a bit top heavy for such a little base. You would want to bolt her down to use on a bench.

I will take it apart to see how she ticks and to document everything here.

Couple pics showing the pulley and belt part numbers.
Very pleased with the overall condition. Seems to be barely used.

I have a later model Wilton VS 15 and love it. The best thing I ever did to it was to replace the motor with an 1140 rpm version. Spindle speed now goes below 300 which is helpful for hole saws in wood and countersinking metal.

Yeah that would be a good match for the Reeves drive, or pretty much any drill press should come with 1140 standard. My PM 1150 has a 3 phase which also works well for slow speeds.

If this had a table lift I would figure out a way to keep it for sure. Really like the depth stop and the big clamping table. Has good quill travel and everything is rock solid. Even the frame around the speed control is heavy cast iron, which holds the pulley cover firmly. Only weak point is how the spring is set up but you only have to do that once.

Here are a couple pics of the depth stop.
Just loosen and slide to where you want it... seems to work great and heavy duty.

I have the press completely disassembled except for the two pulleys.
Here are some pics of the table and base showing part numbers.

Kind of surprising to see the column is rough cut and simply spot welded to the bottom of the base. I really don't think they made very many bench top models.

My Wilton DP didn't come with table lift either, so I made my own. Not too hard if you aren't really fussy what it looks like.

After I got it all apart I decided to sell it as a freestanding press using a cool Atlas base.
I used dark grey paint since I had some left and I think it turned out pretty good.

Of course I managed to lose both of the tag rivets in the process. I'm sure they will turn up some day. I had one from another machine, now to find one more.

I just need to get the cover back on and it is done. Runs great!

Know this is an older post, but just trying to collect as much info as I can on this model. Just inherited one from my grandfather who hasn't been able to get to what used to be his workshop for probably coming up on 15 years now. Have the freestanding version, and it's in need of some light loving. Shame there isn't any real information to go around, even called up Grainger and they were unable to provide a manual or any pertinent documentation on it.

Outside of needing some light cosmetic work including removing surface rust, the only thing I can tell that's blatantly damaged with the one I have is that the depth stop gauge was broken in two on the rear side of the ring. Seems like a relatively well built piece of machinery, and I'd like to give it the care it needs to get it back to as close to "like new" condition as I can.
