I have a pair of Dayton 1/2" filter/regulators that I'm using. They're working fine. I run full compressor pressure to them, 165psi, and keep them set at 90psi out. I bought them through Grainger. Had to buy the pressure gauge separately, also from Grainger. Like most things, I think there are multiple grades of the Dayton stuff. The ones I bought are all metal except for the knob on top. The reservoir is cast aluminum and has a sight glass.

We've got one at work, it replaced a crappy Kobalt/Lowe's filter + regulator that lasted about 6 months. The Dayton is an all-in-one filter/regulator, I installed it about a month ago and so far so good. It's ALOT better than the Kobalt unit ever was.

Got them in the home systems and in some of the systems in the dealerships I work on. Ok stuff. I too don't like plastic reservoirs. Oil and time make them crack.
