Looks to be made by Sioux. Not my favorite brand, but honest rated power.

I checked my basement and I actually have the same 1/3 hp Dayton as listed on CL. I agree it's a decent grinder, but it's not in the same league as a Baldor. If you check eBay, buyers are paying upwards of $200 for a Wissota-made grinder (Dayton, Milwaukee, Rockwell...), and at that price they could buy a Baldor and be much happier.

BTW, I also have a Baldor 2x48 belt grinder---OMG, what a machine!!!

Wissota did make some grinders for Grainger/Dayton, but that isn't one of them. That one was made by Doerr. Grainger owned Doerr Electric Corp. from 1969 until the mid 1980s, and during that time, most of the Dayton-branded grinders were made by Doerr.

Thanks for the info you sure seem to be helpful when it comes to these grinders, Did you see the Roberts Grinder on the pedestal i posted i would sure like to know more about it.

I saw it, and it's a new one on me. If I'd had to guess without seeing the nameplate up close enough to read, I would have guessed it was a Brown-Brockmeyer grinder.

I did some more research and the grinder indeed looks more like a Doerr Electric. The shape of the motor case, the shields, and the bolts holding it together all look pre-Wissota based on this thread:
