My friend is selling me his old Dayton 5HP 2 Stage Compressor Model 5F231. This was 3 phase but now is single phase. It is in great condition but I am having a hard time finding a price to offer him. I did a google search and I can't find ones that are for sale or was for sale. I find other models that look like it for $400 - $600. Does anyone have information on this model? Thanks Matt

I didn't take any pictures of the whole compressor but it looks like the second pic

He is a good friend. He actually wanted me just to borrow it forever until he neededit, which would probably be never. But I like to pay for my stuff because once you borrow something, it will break. Not sure the motor.

Well, I don't know then - I'd say $500 between friends and call it a day. That's a good deal anywhere, anytime, as most CL clowns are asking this much for a worn-out, single-stage "5HP" (3.2HP actual) 60-gallon consumer-grade unit that you can get brand new at a box store for $569 with a warranty. That compressor probably sold new for a bit over $2K. Heck, just a true 5HP single-phase motor is $350+ all by itself.

In the end, whatever figure makes both of you happy (and that both of you will stay happy with later on when second-guessing>resentment can set in) is what I would shoot for. Does this make sense?
