Dayton G73 problem

Since this seems like the G-73 forum today, I'll throw this question out there. I installed one in my garage a week or so ago and have used it a few times. I expected the smell from the oil burning off the elements when new. However, mine makes an annoying squeal when the fan starts up that continues while it warms up. When the heater is on for a while, the noise is diminished but is still audible enough that I can hear the fan is on from inside the house. It's not very loud, but it is annoying and drowns out the shop radio when it's still cold. I'm hoping it will go away with more use. If not, is there any way to lubricate the moving parts in the motor? I would like to avoid dealing with a return to an online retailer and shipping that big box wouldn't be cheap.

Bummer. I have 2 of them. One new months ago and another new (in a separate bay) new just last week. Each one of mine only smelled a little bit the first few minutes upon start up then went away. Also, my fans NEVER make any noise even on the first start up.

Sorry, but I would sent it back and get a new one.

This is why I got my 3VU36 Locally from Grainger although I did get them to pricematch the online price . This way if I have any problems I will just toss it in the box and deliver it to grainger . So far mine has been AWESOME. I am quite happy with it and Commented in Bucs thread on running costs.

Hi,
Used in a workshop over a garage and this heater works great. Have been using it while I was doing drywall taping in the room and it operated as I expected.

Take off the rear screen and make sure the fan is not rubbing against the shroud. The fan mount is pretty thin metal and can get tweaked easily.

I also picked mine up from Grainger last week, after I had them price match, just in case I had an issue and had to return it.
Mine also works flawlessly. If the fan doesn't look out of place, I would send it back rather than put it off and the warranty period is over and you have a bigger problem than just noise.
