Dayton Infrared Heater Startup Operation

Hi Guys, I purchased a home this year that has a detached shop with two Dayton Infrared Heaters that hang from the ceiling. The model number is 3E133A. They are 60,000 BTU each. They are run on NG. There is also a Dayton thermostat wired in that is attached to the wall. Each heater has its own gas pipe running to it with its own shut off valve before the heaters flexible gas line. I am unsure as to how long it has been since these have been in operation, but they look like brand new. I spent some time last month pressure testing the gas line to the barn to make sure there were no leaks before turning the gas on. I’m at the point where I am ready to fire these up to make sure everything works before winter. Can anyone tell me what the start up operation is for these? Does the pilot light auto ignite once the thermostat is turned on and call for heat, or do I have to manually light it beforehand? The manual states this for the startup:

Lighting Instructions
1. Rotate the heater’s valve knob to the “ON” position.
2. Close electrical circuit (typically the thermostat).
3. If the heater fails to light, turn off gas, open
electrical circuit and wait 5 minutes before repeating the above steps.

I have attached a picture of the back of the heater and of what the heater looks like. Looking for some clarification.
