Picked up this metal bandsaw on the cheap, I've always wanted one but they're always too big and expensive or too flimsy. I was going to go the Portaband route but this popped up for a great deal and the guy was cool so I got it.

I'd love to get a manual for it, I think it's a 3z801 model, based on a thread someone started on this board that went nowhere.

I runs very strong and slow, no scary noises from the worm drive, bearings feel okay to me with the blade off and the tracking seems fine. When I tried to cut some plate, though, the blade came off the driven pulley.

I tightened the blade a bunch and ran it some more, it cut 1/2" into the plate before coming off the pulley that time.

Like always when I'm in unfamiliar territory, I am a little hesitant to get forceful. Before I just crank the snot out of it, I thought I'd ask if anyone has good advice for how to get the saw running well.

When I have used bandsaws before, whoever had the saw had it set up already so dialing one in hasn't ever been something I had to sort out.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

can't help with a manual but if the blade comes off it's either not tensioned tight enough or the wheels aren't coplanar. look for an adjustment to the wheel and use a straight edge to verify and get it to track.

on another note, I have that same strip sander...

I also just picked up a 3z801 like new condition, no blades or tire sets. Were you able to get a manual for yours? Tom
