I'm planning on getting a G73 electric heater. Question is the heater is branded under Dayton and New Air. Is there any difference between them? Does anyone know if Dayton/Granger Warranties the New Air unit if they are indeed they are the same.
Thanks Ed

The Dayton and New Air are completely different heaters. I believe Dayton had the G73 model name first then New Air copied them to boost sales by confusing consumers.

I personally own the Dayton G73 and it works great for my 2 car garage. I haven't heard many good reports on the New Air model.

I almost fell for the switch-a-roo myself. In fact I would suspect that all the reviews from the New Air G73 are really meant for the Dayton G73. I bought my Dayton about a month ago and it has worked very well in my 800 sq foot insulated garage. The Dayton units are the ones that get the great reviews!

Thanks for the info. The closer I looked at them things didn't seem quite right. You folks have confirmed that.
Thanks Ed

I have the New Air G73 installed in a 2 car garage here in Chicago and it has been awesome. I know of 3 other other people that have the same unit and they are very pleased also.

I have the New Air G73 installed Here in wheeling WV, and I'm not sure yet.
I'm posted at the other thread too. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1204458#post1204458

I know the Dayton and The NewAir are both 5000 watts, the fan CFM on the Dayton is a little greater, at 270CFM, vers 200 CFM for the NewAir heater.
Not sure yet, but seems like my fan is kicking on right away, and I don't think it is supposed to. I think The element should get up to temp 1st. then the fan should kick on.
Not saying it's not a good heater, but it kind of gets me, I'll see if I can still find the page,
but OK, I did a search for *Dayton* G73.
1st or 2nd hit, takes you to this page (Price Grabber) that clearly shows a *Dayton* heater, and says $40.00 off, But when you click to the page, it takes you to the Air-N-Water site, and they sell you the NewAir G73.So I ordered it, was $239.00 with free shipping, and a free little 110V space heater. Then Price Grabber sends me this review, "Save $5.00 additional, for filling out this review. Well I never saw the additional $5.00 off.
Can't seem to find that page anymore, someone must have "called them" on it. Price grabber web site search for Dayton G73 does bring up the NewAir G73, but the link takes you straight to Air-N-Water.
Thanks, Tony
I Found it.

Here is the page, Click on it and it shows the **DAYTON**
http://www.stoorz.com/i/dayton-g73-electric-garage-heater-with-built?z=Mdayton g73
Then click >>Get Coupon/ Buy It, >> and it takes you to the Air-N-Water site, and the **NEWAIR** G73

I needed a heater in my basement settled on the New Air unit. I installed it about a month ago and it's been working well. Pretty solid little box.

Anyone know how the Fahrenheat FUH5-4 heater from Northern Tool compares? The specs seem to be almost identical.

The Fahrenheat FUH5-4 and Dayton G73 are identical inside and out.

See That's the one I'm thinking about getting if Air-N-Water will take this back with free shipping like it says on there page.
Also says I have 60 days.
Thanks,
Tony

@ mrbreezeet1: Yes, the fan kicks in immediately, but there is decent heat in less than 15 seconds and gets warmer from there. If it's been running and the room is fairly warm, the unit will continue to run for about a minute after the t-stat is turned down, or if the room is still kinda cold it will often start back up after being off for 30 seconds or less to exhaust the remaining heat from the coil. There is a pair of disc-type thermo switches below the coil, one handles the cooldown feature, the other is the overtemp safety that also has a warning lamp up front to indicate tripping. The latter has yet to come on, but I am not putting the unit in a situation where it would overheat.

It's a solid, weighty little box and seems well made.

Thanks Greatbear
Yeah Air-N-Water said they would take it back, I got a line on a pretty good price for the Fahrenheat FUH5-4, If I can still get it.
I was thinking of sealing off the laundry better, as it freezes back there sometimes, maybe I'll end up keeping this one for back there.
I wonder if a 60 Amp sub panel is enough to run two of these heaters at the same time.
Thanks, Tony

I thought I would jump in here as I just installed a Fahrenheat unit in my little 1-1/2 car garage. The very first day in operation it kept my partially insulated garage at 62F while it was 7F outside. (I used a small LP mr. Heater to get the garage past the 50F mark but the Fahrenheat took over from there.) The next day, I started with a 30F garage and used only the Fahrenheat. Within 90 minutes the garage was in the mid-60s. So far I couldn't be happier.

I will say that the Dayton unit does look just the same as the Fahrenheat. The reason I chose Fahrenheat was simple: Grainger said Dayton was imported from China and Northern Tool said the Fahrenheat was made in South Carolina. You can see the Fahrenheat website at http://www.marleymep.com/en/fahrenheat/default.aspx

Well My "line on a pretty good price for the Fahrenheat FUH5-4" fell through.
Don't know if they will be back in stock before the sale price runs out.
Thanks,
Tony

Well got one ordered this evening, went back to the site, and showing out of stock again.
Hope they don't cancel my order, I did get a order confirmation though.
Thanks,
Tony
