I tried searching here and through Google. No luck. Just some random old posts on DIY forum.

Dayton unit heater model 3E837 series 1067A with a honeywell V 801 A 1011 regultor/gas valve. 40k btu

My knowledge with heaters is replace thermocouple, test for voltage, if it still doesn't work call a pro...

This was given to me. Little dust on it otherwise looks like new. Heat exchanger has zero rust on it.
A friend took it out on a remodel job and it did work when removed. Problem is it's for natural gas and I need to have it converted to propane.
In my searches I believe this to be 1980's era. I cannot find an owners manual or cross reference to a conversion kit. Any help is appreciated.

I do plan to have a professional check it out and convert it. But, I'd like to know if it can be done. And would like to find an owners manual.

I found mixed opinions on Dayton heaters in my searches. Is this worth putting $$ into or should I sell it for use with natural gas?

Couple things to consider: "Dayton" is really a "Sterling" unit heater. Sterling makes these for Grainger, and Grainger sells them under their own "Dayton" brand. Grainger should be able to get you a NG to LP conversion for under $100 + answer any techincal qeustions you have. If you decide to go with a new unit, Modine Heaters seem to dominate the market. Their Hot Dawg series has been around for a long time and it's built in the USA: http://www.h-mac.com/brands/heating-brands/modine.html
