I saw in the latest hf catalog mailer that they are coming out with Daytona 1300lb ratcheting wheel dollies (for $109.99). From what I could tell, they were nearly the same as the pittsburgh ones however they can fit up to an 11in tire and they also will be offering a storage cart ($39.99).

Unfortunately I didn't grab a picture before I tossed it.

I saw that too. If I remember correctly it was the crappy casters that made the Pittsburgh version garbage.

From what I read, the grey pittsburgh ones had good casters, it was the old red ones that sucked. The old design sold at HF is the same as the ones currently sold at Northern tool. The ratcheting mechanism looks different between the grey and yellow and the yellow ones are wider.

This thread is a couple of months old, but I'm curious if anyone has seen the Daytona wheel dollies hitting stores yet. I need something that will work with an 11 inch wide tire, and the Daytonas appear to fit the bill.

They are not on the website yet, not sure about in store. I haven't seen them on a catalog since my initial post.

I sent an inquiry to Harbor Freight to see if they could provide an update. They noted that the dollies should be hitting stores late this month, or early April.

I looked at the new Daytona version and i think the casters have bearings unlike the old ones. I did a spin test and the old one stoped spining very quikly and the new ones kept going a while.

I called to see if my local store had the jacks in stock earlier this week. They said they one on hand, and one as a display model. I ended up swinging by to grab a few things, and decided I'd take a look. Unfortunately, when I got there the manager stated that they never received either of them, and that his system showed they had 3 on order. I'm guessing they'll bump up their stock to have at least 4 on hand once the supply is better. Since the April catalog has a coupon for $89.99 each (found on hfqpdb) I decided to go ahead and place an order online. The shipping for all four units was only $6.99 total, so I decided not to wait around and try to scavenge 4 of them from multiple stores. I received notice today that they have shipped via FedEx, and should arrive next week.

Keep us posted on how they hold up. Did they make a rack for them as well?

They do make a rack. It’s part number 64496, and it sells for $39.99. Since my floor space is limited I decided against it. I figured I’d just keep the jacks right under each tire of the car that I’ll be moving around most often. Looks like they’re scheduled to arrive on Wednesday via FedEx. I’ll report back once I have a chance to use them.

This is essentially the same exact set-up as the Go-Jak's. I loved using them when I was working in the body shop. I'm looking forward to hearing about them.

I received my dollies today. I didn't have the time to do a thorough review, but I was able to take some photos and a couple of quick videos showing them in action. I had no damage, and the boxes seem pretty hefty. The dollies come assembled minus the casters. Of course, I had to get a photo of my Earthquake ratchet tightening the caster nuts. This is the first time I've used this style of dolly, so I don't really have anything to compare them to. My first impression is that they seem to be high quality, and the jacking mechanisms work well. They also move very easily on my shop floor, which is usually the biggest concern for these types of jacks. I probably would have bought a set of the older Pittsburgh dollies, but I needed a set that would work with our 11 inch wide rear tires. The Daytonas fit that bill. So far I'm very happy, especially at the $89.99 each price point with $6.99 shipping.

Limit 2?

I suspect most people will simply make two purchases on different days, or drag someone else along to buy the other two...

Yeah it's two per purchase, not sure why they do that but they'll let you do two transactions in the same visit usually.

Food for thought, Eastwood's hydraulic dollies are the same price as the HF coupon price and accommodate up to 12" wide tires, the Daytona dollies are 11". They're hydraulic, which is an added complication, hard to say if that's worth it.

... particularly if they can be used for long-term storage to avoid flat spots.

They still press on the tire so I would not use them to prevent flat spots. They pinch the tire in 2 places so they will still cause distortion of the tread from long term usage.

The Daytona's seem to be a blatant copy of the Go-Jak, but the casters are definitely different sizes.

The intent of this style is to be able to lift the car and move it without the added space needed for a jack, they are not designed for long term storage and could leave you with some weird tire issues.

Reviving this thread.....how are the Daytona dollies holding up?

I picked up these dollies last month knowing I was going to grossly overload them. I have a dozen or more lifts on a 87 GMC one ton 4wd with a 5.9 Cummins. I did disassemble and grease the casters, pushing and lifting are not even close to a challenge even with that fat pig. I didn't expect it would work on duals and it did not, I had to pull off my outsides to fit them on the rear tires. If I had to pick a negative its that I don't think they would work on a 33"+ tire, but then again they are not designed for such.

My Go-Jak 6313's clear a set of 35-14.50's (just barely) on my 78 Chevy truck as well as wide 335's on newer Vettes. I paid dearly for them, but had to have the wide tire capability.

Go-Jak also makes the 7016 for dual wheels... very expensive though but clears a 16" wide tire.

Thanks for looking out, guys! I'll have to see what kind of options I have for longer-term storage that keeps the wheels on the car, worst case scenario I've got a spare set of wheels/tires that I can put on for winters. Being able to move the car around is a nice luxury.

Maybe I'm dumb, but I'm still not seeing if these are priced individually, per pair, or per set of four -- can someone enlighten me? Thanks!

Each....
The Daytona jacks are about $120 each & Go-Jak's are about $250 each.
Buying in pairs is sometimes a little cheaper.

Thanks! Man, I never realized how spendy these things are. Back to the drawing board I suppose, I'm not too comfortable spending that kind of money at the moment for what ultimately is a convenience. If a coupon comes up maybe I'll revisit the idea.

I appear to have found the weak spot on these. I admittedly am overloading them beyond rated capacity, but the casters themselves are starting to blow apart. I still think they are a solid product for the price, but be warned if you push them.
