I thought I'd post this in case anyone wanted to get more light of of a Dazor two-tube fluorescent lamp and didn't mind it looking a little odd.

I slap dimmable 1600 lumen A19 bulbs anywhere I can around the house so I can get as much light as I want when I need it, so when I saw this in the thrift store, I first passed because the tubes are low lumens. However, the next time I visited this was still on the shelf and I decided to play around.

  • A19 bulb sockets clamped to wood support blocks cut from a scrap piece of 2x4
  • Blocks screwed to lamp housing
  • Sockets clamped to blocks with stretched 1/2" EMT pipe clamps
  • Original switch had no continuity across any terminals, replaced with toggle switch from old Craftsman motor

As currently set up, it can even fit a pair of the big 2600 lumen bulbs.
Since the bulbs face away from the center, you can actually have your head directly under the lamp housing when bending over a table with no shadows at all. You don't get shadows unless your shoulders reach under the housing.
