I was informed today that the dead blow extender as a project has life again. The design we are considering is fairly close to the design of the original extender.D-OPTION ISO VIEW.jpg We have several of the early versions of the extender in circulation, and those who have the extenders should probably have the best feedback on the proposed new design. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

As one of the recipients of the earlier trial versions, I would most definitely order/buy this updated version!

That's not to say there was anything "wrong" with the one I have, but I like the looks of the new one, and if it functions half as awesomely, it's a winner!

Has come in handy for a few deep situations, certainly an oddball that can easily pay for itself.

yes - Like it.
What is the overall length?

Also, how difficult would it be to make an option on the small end to be a flat head, like the one on the flat/flat or stubby cousin?
That would be Awesome!

I could definitely see this as a useful tool, and would order one for sure.

Any ideas on the cost?

I would buy one. As a heavy equipment technician I can easily think of at least 6 or 7 jobs in the past year that I could have used something like that.

I use little chunks of sapling. They are far from adequate, but the splinters don't harm the equipment. I can definitely see a place for this.

Let's say I'm too lazy to peruse your site.

What's the longest length hammer head (distance from handle and total length) Trusty Cook makes?

I really like this idea, and think it would add a TON of versatility!

Regardless, whatever comes out as the final design, I'll buy one (or 3)

As a recipient of the original, it was probably my most used deadblow until i got hurt. Im sure it'll be just as well used after i get butchered.

Realized I did not link Shootinok's quote in my last post. This is what I was referring to. Could this be a realistic possibility?

Literally made an account just to post on this thread.

I work at Janda Motor Services, we tend to use a lot of non-scratch/marring tools, hammers, extenders, punches, winding horns, etc when forming and winding coils for industrial motors.

Your extender would be an amazing tool. A lot of times the lamination stack is deep-set within the stator, and when it comes time to form/lace coils we are forced to use in-house made plastic or softwood tools. And while they do a decent enough job, it would have nothing on something made specific for our purpose like your extender.

Snap-On guy has tried many different tool ideas for us, but none were quite adequate or up to the task. Having different diameters and lengths would also be a big plus, but at this point, I'd take just about anything.

Maybe you can partner with Epstein's and offer a GJ special on these. The redesign looks great!

Just came across this thread. Exciting to see the DBE is almost ready. Is the new design a little thinner than the prototypes? It looks like it is. I could see that along with the round instead of hexagon shaped shaft being nicer to hold while using it.

I just used mine last week doing some emergency plumbing repairs to knock apart some really tight PVC elbows from a test fitup. It's definitely a handy tool both to hammer on and to use by itself as a little handheld battering ram.
