Yesterday my 2763-20 1/2" impact said no more. Gives 3 flashes, nothing else. It is 6 years old, so I assume out of warranty and is well used. When I look on ereplacementparts, they note usually it is a little spring clip (which it isn't) or the electronics which are not cost effective to repair vs buying a new one.
I serviced the battery terminals and verified 20 VDC through the switch when it is activated. Not much else to fiddle with. Anyone have luck resurrecting one of these?

Send it to AvE. Was it making any weird noises before it died? I would see if that power gets to the motor. Kinda doubt the motor left but you never know.

Mine **** out like that last year 4 years just under the wire.. new circuit board under warranty repair. Ya costly to repair without that sorry to say and not really cost effective over a new tool according to my repair invoice.

I'd like a new updated 4 mode one

Actually Milwaukee gave me the newest FUEL impact driver to replace their OLDEST Fuel driver guess the repair wasn't feasible to them.

Just as an FYI I had 3 tools go down in a year's time grinder was the 3rd. All at about the max of the 5 year warranty

Wish that big ol clunky Gen 1 Fuel drill would **** it pants too then they can send me Gen 3 :D

I saw the one with the 4th mode. If you go up to the one key? one - did I see that you can set the torque on the app. Any clue if this is accurate? Or a PIA? I'd really rather fix what I have, but this thing gets used.

A little research shows that the torque setting is within 25%. How many shop manuals show tighten to 160 foot pounds or somewhere within 25 %...... A little rain shouldn't affect one of these. Who knows why they quit though.

Yea but that's not a torque wrench. It's just meant to get whatever u tighten into the general area. I'm sure different socket sizes will all play a factor in that range also, Along with battery size and battery level. I mean one extra impact, how well the guy is holding onto the gun would all throw those numbers off.

I mean you can still get it fixed (obviously) - but a a new bare tool will make u smile. lol. I think the newer model is stronger than that now. *****.to have anything die though - esp when u know it's probably just something dumb. Wait till these tools with the OneKey start showing u fault codes on your phone.... It's getting close to that point..

I think it has something to do the carbon brushes being worn out. For those motors with brushes, there will be occasional sparks/smell under normal use.

Pretty much like alternators on a car. People often get a new alternator as repair. I once resurrected an alternator by simply replacing the brushes, which only cost a few bucks.

That model is brushless, so it doesn’t have carbon brushes to wear out.

Yup most likely the circuit board went out, and to me this is the biggest drawback to the newest tools. I was in electronic component manufacturing for long time where we ran life tests shock tests etc. Most solder board assemblies or other potted type components do have a known limited life.

Agree though with older style tools brushes wore out and trigger contact switches mainly went south on ya first unless broke gear or shaft

40 years ago on variable speed corded drill the trigger was the common failure point, the replacement part was 30%-50% of the new drill price. Somethings never change.......

Call the Milwaukee service center, you might be surprised on the repair cost .......but......likely it’s Time to move on..........

Get a new/used one off ebay. I find lots of m18 batterys and tools that say there used but show next to no scratches from batterys even be plugged in.

There isn't much info on these as far as repair on the tubes. It isn't like the wrench didn't pay for itself already though. My only beef with this wrench was the #1 position didn't seem remotely close to 100 foot pounds - so it rarely was used. Will I use the new wrench various modes? Probably 2 and 3. I'd be happy if you could set the torque and be within 5% ish. Heck the majority of torque wrenches in real use are outside that. I guess you need to expect that the new impacts are to be treated as a consumable. In the old days you could afford to service a pneumatic wrench and you only replaced it for something better, lighter, that shade of blue you liked....

Real Tool Reviews did a video covering that 100# mode 1 torque of the 2763 as there was many people questioning that rating after it's release. Proves in the video by actual demonstration and also admittedly by Milwaukee that the torque values advertised are achieved using a particular size bolt and thread pitch, more or less of either will not achieve the same numbers. I believe it was a 5/8" coarse thread fastener that was used. and like tightening on a 3/8" bolt wont even come close to that strangely enough.

Just as an FYI the same has to hold true for any of the impacts and their advertised ratings most especially on something like the new M12 stubby. Not really hearing much about that one anymore at all.

You could dial in a fairly general REPEATABLE performance on specific sized fasteners using One Key. That is feature I forgot about a timed number of impacting hits, such as on lug nuts. Thru trial and error testing and adjusting on your part you could probably get the satisfaction percentage your looking for, but again it would be for a specific individual application and not simply across a range of fastener sizes

I have my old brushed motor impact for a back up which does 90% of my tasks. Me and Home Depots paths should cross sometime this weekend. Amazon is 200$ bare if not. I was hoping to freshen up the batteries this black Friday if the deals were to be had. I think battery wise I have 4) 5.0s and 1) 4.0 and really just a couple of the 3.0 batteries that are viable yet. Great for the lights. 2 or 3 batteries on the recycle shelf.
I just re brushed 4.5 grinders as I like them better. I think they are faster than the fuel and have lockable switches.
