Dead Milwaukee Saw-Z-All

I got my saw out yesterday and it is dead. Unit is getting power, as when I pull the trigger and release it, I hear a little interference in the radio, but the blade doesn't move a hair.

I thought the stroke of the saw might have a dead spot in it, but I moved it in and out manually and it still won't run.

Where should I look for a local Milwaukee rebuilder?

It’s most likely a bad trigger switch, very common problem. Just take it apart and bypass the switch to check the motor.

Should be a very easy fix, order parts online, change out switch, done deal!

I think I'll order a gasket set, while I'm at it. I've noticed that the bottom of the box is full of semi-liquid grease.

Did you check the brushes?

The "wheel" for the speed adjustment went out on mine. I was able to order parts directly from Milwaukee.

Make sure you order the switch using the serial number.

I'm the kind of guy who buys good stuff and takes care of it. Mine was old but in great shape ... metal case. I have a few Milwaukee tools with the Q-lock cord .. so I have different lengths. I order the new switch and a few other parts .. brushes etc .. figured I'd get a new rubber for the front.


Anyway .. it never ran right ... took it apart .. twice .. never could figure it out .... bought a refurbished Super Saw-Z on sale at CPO ... boy was that a better unit.

Anyway .. some of the switches are $50.00 ... and I don't think I paid more than $80 for the super.

I have found that a lot of the switchs are full of sawdust and other stuff.
A good flush with WD40 maybe worth a try.
