Deal on Bosch High Torque Impact Wrench

Hey all, previous GJ member, been lurking for awhile. I just scored a great deal at Lowes on the Bosch 740N high torque impact wrench, thought I'd pass it on. Regularly $249, on sale now for $187, with a free 8ah battery and charger. I was already invested in the Bosch drill and Freak impact driver. Still a great deal if you're in another platform I think. Yes, it's big and heavy, but will handle anything I'll DIY.

Curious where is the tool made and where is the battery made?

Impact wrench and battery made in Maylasia, charger made in China, per the boxes.

I picked up that one a year or so ago, and have been happy with it. Heavy SOB with that big battery on it. I got mine from the Bosch rep through Lowes, and he threw in a couple 2ah batteries in addition to the 8ah starter kit.

Good to hear you're happy with yours. I have two 4ah batteries (and charger) from the drill & driver kit, if this 8ah battery gets too heavy. But I won't be using this that much. Doing rear brakes and a new rear sway bar on my 08 Tundra this week.

Are people happy with this tool? I'm deep into in the Bosch ecosystem... if I was starting again I'd likely go with Milwaukee.

Even battery-less, it felt pretty heavy. The User Manual states 6.4 lb (tool only). Then the 18V CORE18V Lithium-Ion 8.0 Ah PROFACTOR Performance Battery adds 2.14 lb, totaling 8.54 lb.

The Milwaukee M18 FUEL™ 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench with Friction Ring weighs 5.9 lb sans battery, and 7.5 lb with the M18 5 Ah battery.

I'm a hobby guy and don't wrench as much anymore, but a capable impact wrench is very handy to have around. I was fooled by Bosch in 2016 when I bought the Bosch IDH182-02 Cordless Impact Driver - 18-Volt Lithium Ion Brushless Tool, which is embarrassingly weak.

I have not used mine much yet, but I like it. Putting a sway bar on my truck, one frame bolt was not coming off, the others just zipped right off. So I just let it pound for at least 30 seconds after some penetrant. Don't think I could have got it off without it, even with a big cheater bar.

The Bosch with an 8Ah battery takes the Milwaukee with a 5Ah out behind the wood shed.
