Thanks for the update. I'm sure that this once in a lifetime project going this sideways has caused you no end of grief. I'm glad your lift manufacturer figured something out, and I wish you nothing but happiness and warm sunsets. (That won't happen in Boston though!) 🤣

03 … rancher … idl … go back and read from the b3ginning. He has been through all of those avenues.
In the Original Thread I was saying make a claim against his insurance company and they would go after the contractors insurance company. His insurance company will do everything to get out of paying.

Any other path in my opinion will cost a lot of money and will produce little results the guy is close to bankruptcy and there is a specific payout scheme for what few assets the GC has.

The only people who have unlimited money is the GC insurance company.

I have to reiterate to only money that is available is from his insurance company. There will be nothing left in the contractor company. You cannot get blood out of a stone. The GC insurance company will deny deny deny. Suing the homeowner insurance will get them to go after the GC insurance company.

I know that the issue has been resolved. For others info, in MN at least, if you use the fund that the state keeps to resolve these conflicts, you sign away rights to go after the contractor outside of that. AKA no court, you got paid out of this fund.

If anything is paid out of this fund, the contractor's license is suspended until they pay back 2x what the original payout was.
