Dear Milwaukee,

If you're a Milwaukee employee who happens to be reading this please suggest to your bosses that they produce a cordless blind (POP) rivet gun. Available models from Marson, etc., are priced crazy for what they are in my opinion. They may be justifiable for corporate purchases or for people who use one every day, but not for me. I don't use one every day but I use one often enough to A: Want a powered version B: Be tired of the awkward pumping action of manual models but C: still not enough to pay anywhere close to $500 for one. I think M12 would be fine based on the battery performance of the other tools like grease and caulking guns but if you decide on M18 I can live with that as well. Offer it in the sub $300 range for the kit and you've got a home run.

Interesting. That would indeed be handy.
The mechanism could be 90% the same as the PEX expander tool.

What makes you think a company that offers a powered caulk gun AND grease gun would make a powered rivet gun? Madness.

Problem solved. I posted this awhile back and it got no attention and I was a little surprised by it.

I have used it quite a bit but I have a pneumatic gun as well so it does not see heavy use. So far it is holding up well.

The biggest draw back is that it requires one hand on to pull the trigger on the drill and one hand to hold the "apparatus." I overcame this by using a clamp on handle from my Makita hammer drill clamped onto it and I can prop that against the work material, my arm, a leg or many different things to free up a hand.

It also is pretty long but that has not been a big issue for my uses as of yet. COO is Spain and it is built very well.

i think he's referring more to the fact that Milwaukee is chinese owned, not that they make products in china. Snap-On wont be USA made once they catch up to everyone else and start using Li-ion technology. I think thats one of the reasons they've stuck with NiCad so long.

Go on their website and use the contact forum.
I did that suggesting they make a combo 18v/12v charger and 8 months later it was announced...

That is a pretty nifty little contraption. If I can't get Milwaukee to listen to me that may be the solution. I always prefer dedicated tools but POP rivet guns are kinda few and far between. Pneumatic models are alright but I'd prefer cordless capabilities. Marson and a couple other companies offer them but they start at around $500. Milwaukee is all about specialty type tools and like rlitman said, the mechanics involved are similar to tools they already offer such as the PEX expansion tool.

I would be in for one at sub $100 although it would barely see any use. I am sure if I had it I would find more uses for rivets though.

I would be in for a m12 version!

I think M12 would be sufficient as well. They're getting awesome per charge performance out of many of the M12 specialty tools and as the 4.0ah batteries hit the shelves it'll only go up. It's a lower powered operation so I don't think it would require the extra voltage to be effective.

Sub $100  At $250 it would be roughly half the price of it's closest competitor. I suppose it's ok to dream though.

I guess I will just get the $65 adapter if I ever see the need.

I don't see why it couldn't be done if not for less than $150. They could just use an existing drill body and replace the nose cone. R&D should be minimal and I cannot imagine that the parts cost would be so much more than a geared drill mechanism.

I was talking about for the kit. The bare tool could realistically end up in the $150 range. It would be a situation where there isn't a similar tool from the usual competitors though, and we know how that usually pans out (see copper press and PEX tools).

i don't hink they will understaand your question, it's not written in chinese.

Speaking of Marson--I know where there is a pneumatic one in a pawn shop labeled as a "paint sprayer" for $49.99. It looks like new, so is that a good deal? I can no doubt get it for less as I'm a "frequent flyer" there.

I'd be in for one of them.

another item for the m12 system that i thought that would be helpfull would be a stapler for romax, when I was running the 500' feet of romax thru the trusses in my barn I was wishing i had something like that. what a time consuming job hammering all those staples in on all that wire.

Yea, if its in descent shape that would be a good price. As I recall they start in the $225 range.

Okay, thanks. I'll snag it tomorrow if it's still there. I'll let you know. I appreciate the help.

I really don't have frequent use for it, but I like nice stuff like that.

I got to looking at the Marson line. They have a couple of cheaper Pneumatic models. One runs around $95 and one is around $140. Then you get into the more expensive models starting at around $225 and going up over $500. The theme seems to be that the cheaper ones are yellow while the more expensive ones are red. Either way, if it's under $50 and in good shape it's still a good price.

Got it--it's a little scuffed up, and is missing the bottle to catch the mandrels, but seems to be overall sound. It is a model M-4, which still sells online for about $300. I paid $45 OTD, so I'm happy, as it has a 30 day warranty. It has an oddball quick-connect fitting so I can't test it until this weekend.

Also, the threads for the plastic bottle are boogered up so the mandrels will drop out and have to be cleaned up. Overall I'm very happy--if it works. :D

The guy that owns TTI is not Chinese. Try German and send the request to their HQ in Hong Kong.

The owners are not Chinese but Germans living in Hong Kong. The factory is on the mainland The founder, his son and one or two others own various percentages of TTI.

Great. Just what I need- an excuse to move into M12 tools (I have lots of M18 tools and batteries). So- What other M12 tools can't I live without?

So far in M18 I have a hammer drill, impact driver, sawzall, drywall screwgun, drywall cutout tool, and a grinder.

So far in M12 I have a drill, impact driver, ratchet, and a pex expansion tool on it's way.

Seems like I'm missing a few things. For all of that I have 3 m12 batteries and 2 m18 5.0ah batteries.

I would like to get the m18 oscillating tool and just a couple more tools.

I'm a general handyman if that makes any difference. Don't have any current use for the expansion tool, put in a $215 + $35 shipping bid on eBay for one with 3 heads 1 battery and charger- could easily put back on eBay for $300 with a good description if I wanted to or sell locally for $300. I just put a bid in on it on a lark. There were about 4 times last year when I wish I had the thing.

I have pex-b with the stainless cinch rings and I don't like it because I keep breaking cinch rings. That never used to happen several years ago. Either tool out of adjustment or cinch ring quality going to pot.
