Anyone know where to get "custom" floor decals made to put on the floor before the clear coat? ive only seen a few standard ones..vette etc. any web-sites? thanks

Go to a sign shop and get one made....ask for a solvent resistant decal

The decal will probably be the "weak link" in the floor coating. For light use floors it should work fine, but if the floor is going to see a lot of traffic or abuse you may want to consider a fabric decal. The clear coat impregnates the fabric so it will be a lot more durable that a vinyl decal that's just sandwiched between two coating layers.

I actually wondered a little bit about this. Is there a special vinyl that is used? If my garage isn't heavy traffic, could I just have some vinyl cut and lay it down, just like i would on a car?

Yes. Although if you don't want to over coat it I'd use special vinyl that's designed for floor traffic. You can see it in a lot of grocery stores, ads for certain products, arrows pointing to sale items etc. That's what we use when the client is looking for a floor graphic that might only be seasonal in a store, shop etc. They're pretty rugged and should do fine in a residential garage as long as you aren't dragging floor stands and stuff like that across it. Tire traffic is okay, but avoid turning front wheels in place.

Hmmm... i'll have to look into it. I can get regular vinyl done for free... So I wouldn't mind redoing it every 6 months to a year (plus i have a hard time leaving things alone so i'd probably want to change it anyways lol)

If the vinyl logo is inked and your epoxy has solvents, you might run into a BIG problem.

Or you can go to your local sign shop, apply your logo or decal and flood it with 100% solids epoxy, then top coat.....

www.floorpix.com looks pretty good. im still a ways out on putting the epoxy down. Just trying to get ideas so when its ready i will be ready, thanks guys
