Just picked up a Hobart 140 in very excellent condition, a 40 or 60 cu ft tank, i need to double check it's size, and a 8lb-10lb (also need to double check its size) flux spool for $250 off CL.

yeah, if it is in like new condition with very little use, then it's a good score, they are $499 new online (without tank)

does what you got look exactly like this?

Good price......and with it that good....and the excellent condition....I would want to know why it is being sold. I sure hope it's not stolen.

Is the guy upgrading? I hope you don't get burned.

burned?

yea it looks just like the one pictured, just its been used, very little. Tested it there and when I got home, works fine.

The only problem now is I already ordered a Eastwood Mig 175 and I can either sell this again, or return the MIG 175 within 60 days

The tank is even full, lol

I dunno what gas it has in it. Guy was trying to flux weld with gas...He told me it was straight CO2 which I don't know why it would be.

Maybe the guy didn't know how to weld and gave up?

the gas would likely be CO2 or Argon or Helium, CO2 is most likely

he may not have understood that this is a dual mode machine and got frustrated and just wanted it gone.

He told me it was straight CO2 which I don't know why it would be.
straight CO2 would be perfectly logical for MiG mode

Maybe the guy didn't know how to weld and gave up?
do you?

Yea I checked the tank its 75/25 mix 40cu ft

I already own a 125cu ft tank so I may not need this.

I'm still debating on what to do, I want to keep the Hobart because I know it will be reliable, but the Eastwood Mig 175 will let me weld thicker metal and even aluminum.

I'm gonna be testing both over the next few weeks and making up my mind.

Also I don't know if you were trying to make a smart remark or not, but I know enough about welding to be able to make sturdy welds, I have only used 75/25 mix in my past though.

Played around on some scrap pieces of metal today and it got me thinking...Why did I ever buy a HF welder?

Even with simple flux core this welder lays down a perfect complete weld.

It helps so much having a chart to tell me what settings to use, but I can see why the HF one produces a lesser weld.

On the HF welder the second an arc is produced the wire seems to slow down and makes adjusting the wire speed a total nightmare.

The Hobart is a consistent wire speed, and has a consistent bacon sizzle.

Need PICS if you want a legit YS award. ;)

I've been watching for Hobart 140 couple years and no deals like that.

Let's SEE the fruits of that CL score.

Keep the Hobart and return the Eastwood.

I can't seem to do any business with Eastwood, their prices are for wealthy car restorers it seems like. So if they have a welder, I would expect you could likely figure out the real OEM and buy it for half the price under the real maker's name.
