Nice assortment of Craftsman stuff. The 3/8" drive breaker bar is going to come in handy and the metric 1/4" drive socket seat is really neat. The paperboard tag in the clamshell has the old Sears Towers address on it. There's a few Crescent pieces, one of the ratchets, 13/16 spark plug socket and they're made in Japan. Is that normal for Crescent stuff? The two baggies of sockets are all made in Japan too. I think there's only one Chinese ratchet. The one oddball of the group is one of the ratchets. It's stamped Sears, not Craftsman anywhere, and is made in Taiwan. Any ideas on it?

Sears has been using the Companion brand as a lower level tools niche forever. They use it, stop, and bring it back again (and again...).

30-40s, again in the 70's, possibly into the 80s, and likely one or two other erss...

Maybe so, just sayin my grandfather died in 1987 and he was the original purchaser of this sears branded taiwan set. it does not say companion, just sears.

The Sears stamped one is either..... Canadian OR in the late 80's there were some grey market Sears tools that were made in Japan I think. It could be one of those. I know I have seen a wrench set marked Sears and Made in Japan.
