Decent keypad door knob

The door knob on the shops main walk in door is starting to give me fits. Ive been entertaining the idea of getting one with an electric keypad but Im assuming there is probably a lot of junk out there. Wondering who has what and how they seem to be holding up.

My main requirements are that it is a lever style and I want an actual key hole as well.

Is there anything that's decent and doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

A quick search brings up some Kwikset and Schlage brand ones for a little over 100 bones, that seams to be about the lowest price point. Im I wasting money going with something like that?

I just bought a Schlage model for $120. Has a lever for the door knob part and a key lock in addition to the key pad. I figure I will hide a key in case I need it and use the key pad for day to day. I was able to try it out in the store and it seemed to work well and not feel too cheap.
My neighbor has a more expensive model that goes to the internet and has a guest code that I use to get in. It tells him when the door is unlocked on his smart phone. Might also have a camera on it.

I have the Schlage model referenced by the previous respondent. It's been installed for around 2 years. Lately it has started acting erratically. I can enter the code and the unit clicks as if it is disengaging the lock, but when I turn the thumbwheel it doesnt it freewheels and fails to release the bolt. I haven't had the time to try to diagnose and fix the problem, and when that has occurred i just enter through the overhead door. I suspect a weak battery might be behind the problem behaviour. When it worked reliably I was very happy with it.

I’ve had the Schlage BE series since they were released many years ago. I’ve since put them on all my neighbors and relatives doors. No issues.

I have looked at the electric locks, installed a few for friends, and it makes me want a Simplex lock.

I’ve installed Schlage and Kwikset.

Used the basic Schlage keypad door lock for the residence and rental units for several years with no issues. Has a backup key and battery life has been great 1-2 years and the unit warns of weak battery.

I don't have a keypad door knob but I do have a touch screen deadbolt.
It is a Yale YRD226 Assure and it has been installed on my garage man door for just over 2 years. I have not had any problems with it and would purchase again. I just changed the batteries for the first time in over 2 years last week. The dead bolt door plate does have to be mounted perfectly so that when you open and close it manually with the lever on the back it goes smoothly and does not hit. I also chose this one since it does still have a key in case of any malfunction. It also can be used with home wifi or a phone app to set guest codes or get alerts but I don't use any of those features

I’ve used the Schlage keypad locks for about 10 years, on 2 different shops. They work well. The first one I bought stopped working after a few months. Schlage replaced it without a question. Recently this one acted like ksgar described. Replaced the battery (4 years old) and solved the problem.

Schlage now on our 3rd house in the last 12 years. Our current house is 2 years old and I bought and installed 3 of the Schlage in the first 2 weeks.

I have the Schlage at my house too. I have the version they call the Plymouth, in shiny brass, which has a regular door knob. But as others have posted, they do make ones with a lever instead of a door knob.

I like the fact that I can put in a temporary code for people and then delete that code quickly. We use it for the girl who comes to our house to feed our cats when we go on vacation.

Once we get home, I delete that code.

I installed ours back in May 2018. I like the fact that it came with keys so that you can unlock it if the battery goes dead, or if you just like to use keys!

I have the Schlage deadbolts on my home and workshop. They worked well for years until just recently when the knob would start to just free wheel after entering the code. New batteries didn't help. Ended up taking them apart, cleaning out the old grease, and replacing with new. They are all back up and running great.
Cheers.

I installed a Schlage lever action knob with key and keypad four years ago on a service door in Tennessee. It's worked without issues. It is not a deadbolt so not the most secure device. Spend money on a quality lock and it will last a long time.

I used to have a mix of mostly Schlage, and a couple Kwikset. The Kwikset ones have been replaced by Schlage units since they were just a headache. In the Schlage, the batteries last forever, they work reliably and integrate nicely with my smart home system (Smartthings).

I have the same one. After about a year, mine was doing the same thing, I contacted Schlage, and they sent out a replacement under warranty. So far the replacement is working well.

I have no complaints about our 7 year old Kwikset keypad lock set. Finish has held up and I think I replaced the battery once so far. Numbers are in good shape, but the door is on the shaded side of the house.

Never heard anything bad about the Schlage either.

Confirming that they can be re-keyed. All my door knob & deadbolt locks use the same key.
Oh, and using a Schlage deadbolt style (don't use it that often) but no problems with it. Had for just over 3 years and battery still fine. There was some concern with drilling it to defeat it, but I made a "shield" for it inside to (hopefully) prevent that.
