Hey guys,
My over the stove microwave uses bulbs like the ones below. I have tried three or four brands of led replacements and none of them will last more than a few months. The darn incandescent ones were lasting at least a year if not longer. Incadescents are getting pretty hard to find and I dont mind using the leds but there must be something that will last. Any first hand experiences ?

These are the bulbs I tried the most recently:

I have not been able to find a "name brand" LED in that size :( Feit has them but they are much shorter and I dont know how that will affect the light distribution. I guess I might give them a try. Either that or just order enough incandescent ones to last a while :)
Home Depot sells them in small quantities.

So I ended up at Lowes last night on the way home. They had a GE bulb but it is the shorter version. I went ahead and bought two of them. I was a little concerned at how the light distribution would be with the shorter bulb but you really cannot tell any difference. These bulbs are guaranteed to last for three years :) For once in my life I actually kept the receipt and the package and put them in a file folder. Well see in three years :)

I tried a small number of those bulbs in my previous microwave.

First problem is that they are not dimmer rated, so it was a strobe light show whenever the dim setting was used. Second problem is that they just did not last long.

I thought I could get ahead by finding dimmer rated bulbs on Amazon, but they were even worse!

I finally gave up and went back to incandescent.

This is the one I got:

Even though it does not say it is dimmer rated it seems to be fine with the two settings on our microwave. I guess time will tell. To be honest with you ours is basically never on the low setting anyway. I will go back to the incandescent if it comes down to that. Lowes had them too.

I stopped by a Batteries and Bulbs store to get a replacement oven light for my electric range (not a microwave), and was told they did not sell a 40 watt appliance bulb of any type that was rated for the heat of an oven. Then stopped by HD to look for the same item and found they also do not stock a bulb rated for use in an electric range, even if you find one of the old incandescent bulbs in stock. Finally just bought a two-pack of LED 40 watt equivalent appliance bulbs and used them. Not sure how long they will last.

Thats funny because they show one on their web site:

It shows thim in stock at my local store.
And I am almost certain I saw them at Lowes last night when I got the ones for my microwave.

is this for inside the oven or on the bottom that shines on the stove? I have tried several LED ones for the bottom one on my Whirlpoo that say its dimmable and for microwaves but they still lit up even when you turn off the light. what a waste of money I gave up searching for one.

The ones I am doing are for the bottom of the microwave to shines light on the stove top. The GE ones I linked to seem to be working great but its only been a day :)
