I'm getting my house ready to sell, which is going to include a new garage ceiling (24x24, 7.5 ceiling). I currently have a bunch of crappy single t8 fixtures that i don't want to reinstall.

These are $21 each at HD and I was thinking either 6 or 8

Any thoughts on this or a better option? Looking for low cost

I got these for my shop and garage. My garage is 24x24 10ft ceiling. I have 6 of them in there. They are awesome. I had to install 2 outlets where the old light fixtures were, but other than that they are easy to install (I just screwed them flat to the ceiling). 3c04c5a54be3b882fa39f6b92574bebd.jpg

You're selling the place. Throw the old stuff back up. We on this forum are the minority that would base our home purchase on the garage. Most people will not even notice the lights in the garage.

I know. Part of the issue is how they are installed. I have exposed romex and the lights are missing end caps to allow for a code-compliant installation. If I can spend a hundred bucks to avoid an issue at home inspection, it will be worth it.

At a minimum, there are two existing boxes with screw in splitters and cfl's. I could just leave those and remove all of the larger fixtures entirely. Or I could just put in one of the $21 fixtures over each of the existing boxes.

That completely changes the story. I'm all for fixing an issue to avoid trouble at home inspection. I would put in two of the $21 fixtures, it will wow more than a couple bare bulbs.

OP - I recently had 4 of those Metalux fixtures installed in a attached 2-car garage with ~11’ ceilings. They produce very good light. The clips which hold the lens on are pretty bad and 2 of the lenses fell off and shattered.

For the price and your selling the home I think you will do ok.

Sorry, didn't realize I needed to justify why I was doing something

Thanks. Anything you can recommend doing to keep them in place?

Got some like those several years ago. If those are the same, bend in the end panels. That's what holds the lens in. You should be able to shift the lens each way and not have it drop out.

I have two of the HF units in a garage size room (the upstairs of my garage) and they work great. Those two light it up just fine. That is a nice fix to avoid inspection woes.
