OK, I've went through 2 Craftsman air regulators on my compressor and I don't want to deal with another one. Can someone tell me a decent reasonable priced one? My compressor is an 80 gallon 175psi. I have the valve turned on so the regulator doesn't see any air when I'm not using it. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

- Jason

Turn down the compressor controls. No use wasting power compressing the air to a higher pressure than needed for the job at hand. It is also much easier on the compressor.

Not always. Depending on the work you do it may be very useful to keep the compressor and tank at 175 psi. There is a lot more air stored in the tank so he can be assured he always has 90 psi or whatever at the tool. If he sets the compressor lower say at 100 psi then he may be able to draw the air at his tool down below 90 before the compressor can catch up. Granted if he is doing long continous work the buffer of air would eventually be depleted and it would not matter but under many normal use scenarios it works out perfect.

My compressor kicks on at 135 psi and off at 150 psi. I have never been able to draw it down below 90 at the tool but I have got it to around 110.

As to your regulator question the Norgren units seem to work good. You can find them all over ebay in the $30-$40 range

Yeah, there is a lot more air stored but it costs more to get it there.

Norgren is a good brand. A point of use regulator that just plugs in the air outlet is good. You can move it any place it is needed.
