I'm wondering if there is a store where I can get my hands on some stanley 100 pluses and take a good look at them? This past week I made a trip to sears, lowe's, and home depot and wasn't impressed with anything I saw. I'm also curious how people feel about proto screwdrivers and blackhawks(they look like old sk screwdrivers).

I'm looking for a decent set that won't cost a fortune. I've heard Napa's set(witte) are nice, but I hate the color scheme. One last thing, does anyone know who makes Cornwell's Professional tool prods? They have some sets under this name.

Channellock's new drivers get really good reviews. I have the 6-in-1 that came with some pliers, and I like the handle. I don't really need another set of drivers, but I've thought about picking them up.

I have a set of Wiha's I really like, and a set of Wera's that are OK (I love the handle, but think the tips are a bit soft).

I think I'll take a pass. They are made in china. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I just got the large Proto set with the red and grey handles to replace my stack of Craftsman. I looked at SO and others as well. Granted I have only had them a couple of months, but I am pleased.

Back in the day Stanley made some fantasic screwdrivers I am not sure where they make the 100 series today; If they are still made in the USA you should pick up a set.

I bought a huge Channelock set and they are absolutely terrible. one of the worst sets i've used. I replaced them with HF orange/green set which are lightyears better. Sad that HF is better than Channelock, but they are actually quite good. Williams black handle set is next on my list.

I cant comment on any Stanleys but I have bought two sets of Wihas from Amazon. One for me and one for my dad. I like them a bunch. I have bought a set of Weras too and am unimpressed with the lazer tips. They are best left to modelers or something else that needs precision because the tips flat out ****. I hear better things about the chisel tip Weras.

the Wiha heavy duty ones with the oil resistant grip are the best i've ever used. And I've used a lot. Something about the steel wiha uses, you can abuse the hell out of it (I personally don't) and it won't even scratch.

I find Wiha to be some of the most durable also. I've tried several other brands and keep going back. They are light years ahead of Wera IMO. I'm trying Snap-on right now, but I haven't used them enough to make a judgement yet.

They call the steel they use "CRM-72" tool steel, evidently it's a modified form of S2, which is a very good quality high speed tool steel. You see many pricy premium screwdriver bits touting S2 steel.

All I know is that it doesn't chip, it doesn't deform... it just slowly (very slowly) wears away. I've been repeatedly amazed by my Wiha drivers.

I have two brand new long Stanley 100 Plus flatheads if you're interested. I can pm you photos and part #'s.

Otherwise I like the basic Wera set for $15 on Amazon and then old used Snap On's. For Torx I chose the Wiha set though with a lot more sizes and priced well.

Was pissed that I missed the 9pc Felo deal
