So whats the recommendation for a decent timing light?
Looking for the under 50-60$ range as it will only be used 2 or 3 times per year

I picked up a old MAC branded one from a pawnshop for $20, works fine.

Also picked up a new HF timing light with the advance for $25 when I needed one at another location. It also works fine.

I wouldn't trust a cheap one. I have an old craftsmwan with the advance knob its worked great forever. Id recomend trying to find i higher end model used. The older snap-on lights were great. If your looking for a new one id go with an actron light. They seem pretty good but i have no first hand experience.

Every retail timing light these days is Chinese COO ********. Get one of these -

They are all over Ebay for cheap. I got a NOS one a couple of years ago for $ 25, I was happy because it replaced a 25 y/o one that got stolen and it was the same high quality Made in USA model. Simply put you can't beat them - metal case construction as well

I snagged an old Craftsman at a yard sale for $5. He couldn't guarantee it worked, no way to test it at the sale. But for $5 I figured it was worth a try. Works great!
