I'm looking for a metal cantilever tool box to store tools that are specifically used for BMW airhead motorbike service. Although I'm in reasonably good shape at my age of 73, I'm definitely on the short side of mortality. At my passing I want my wife to donate the tools to my motorcycle club to share with the members.

I've been looking at the Stahlwille 83/010 and USAG 646 boxes. I don't want to go nuts so I'd like to keep it under $100. Suggestion and informed comments on the quality of Euro boxes are appreciated.

I don’t know much about the USAG, but the Stahlwille boxes seem to be fine. I’d like the metal to be a bit thicker, but same comment applies to most boxes. The steel and paint seem to be decent so I’ve had no rust issues. I don’t own that exact box, though I have several other Stahlwille boxes.

These boxes sell on price in U.K. or Europe - a 5 tray Stahlwille (made in Germany) will cost me less than £50, a comparable Snap On (made in China) is £240, so all I would say is don’t overpay in the U.S. though it doesn’t sound as though you are.

I quite like Facom boxes and own a couple, but you have to watch the pricing. The USAG may well be similar, and perhaps better value. If you didn’t want a cantilever box I’d suggest Bott. They offer some solid boxes and the paint is very tough.

Just to conclude this thread. I bought the Facom BT11A from apparently Amazon UK. I looked around for a US vendor and couldn't find one. It got here in an amazingly fast time, with no damage, and delivered to my front door by a cheery DHL driver.

Including shipping, it came in at about a US Benjamin. The paint looks well applied and even. The metal is sturdy and square. There is a nice cleanly embossed raised section on both lids. There is an embossed Facom logo as well as a silver foil adhesive logo on the lids.
The box opened and closed smoothly right from the get go. The pivot rivets on the compartments weren't painted. They were apparently installed after the box was painted. The handles seem up to the task of toting the tool box.

I didn't initially see the dark grey liner material in the bottom of the box pre-cut to the exact sizes of the compartments. I had already bought some Husky drawer liner that I may end up using anyway since it's a little thicker.
