Deep offset wrench sets?

Well, I got the wrenches from Deutschland. They're beautiful.

The last image is thumbnailed to the full resolution one so you can see a close-up of where the wrench engages the bolt.

I would like to get the 21mm/24mm to completely round out the set, along with the 6 piece SAE set. Maybe in a couple weeks.

What is the stock number for the SAE set?

Geoff, I ordered the set on eBay from handtools-from-germany. Ordered Sunday and had them delivered today.

Looking for another tool recommendation. I'm looking for a deep offset wrench set, for a reasonable price. Can't afford Snap on or S&K and the like. Just looking for one of decent quality. I keep running into the need for offset wrenches when I'm working on cars. It would be something like in the link below. But with that set, I'm not sure of the quality.

My washing machine crapped out today and I took it apart to see which part stopped chooching. Found some charring in the motor start relay, sadly the part is discontinued and I have to buy a new motor assembly w/integrated starter and wiring harness adapter to fit the old leads.

I can say without a doubt that I could not have removed the original motor without these Stahwille wrenches. Truly ludicrous obstructions and clearance issues.



Pretty sure that in just a few weeks, these wrenches have paid for themselves.

Yeah its what I had to go with for right now. I'll switch to a $350 set sometime in the future.

Bumping this thread back up as there have been a few times I wish I had a set so I've decided I should bite the bullet and just buy them already. I was about to pull the trigger on the Stahwille set and then I noticed they skipped 21mm. That ***** as I find myself needing a 21mm quite often. Cant say Ill need a 21mm for this specific application but it irks me buying a "complete" set when a random size is skipped as that'll be the only size I need, duh!

Given that what other sets would you guys recommend? I love my Wright Tools wrenches I pickup up about 9 months ago so I might see what they have to offer but also open to opinions on a set that doesnt skip. Thanks in advance!

I suppose if there were an obstruction directly above and next to the fastener, it would prevent a deep socket or standard non offset spanner

You can get the 21x24mm matching wrench on amazon, though it's $50 for a single piece. If it was $20 I'd already have it.

Fair question but I'll play. In my case I've wanted a set specifically for suspension work where I need to remove the top hats. A picture would make this obvious but essentially most dampers that I've worked on they either have an allen key or a stub at the top that allows you to hold the shaft from spinning which you tighten down the top nut. In that case you need a tool that allows you to tighten the nut but also has the ability for something to pass through it so you can hold the shaft from spinning.

Im overhauling the suspension on my father's XK8 and the top hat nut is recessed downward such that I need a deep offset wrench. I could maybe zip it off and back on with an impact but Im not a fan of zipping them back on as you can damage the unit.

Like I said I may have described it poorly so a picture would tell the whole story, but hope that makes sense!

So I was just poking around on amazon.de per your rec but the google translate is failing me currently. Do you still agree with your original feedback on that set? If I order it I will have to get the 21mm as I know thats one of those sizes I use often.

I use em all the time, more often than standard combo wrenches. The deep offset lets them fit in a lot of places that regular combo wrenches won't. I should've bought them years ago.

So far the wrenches are holding up perfectly fine, I don't foresee any trouble with them.


Oddly I have not needed a 21mm in deep offset yet. Knock on wood!

A few months ago I saw an ad on cl "WANTD set of SAE offset wrenches". I called the guy and sold him a nice set of Indestro complete with the clip to hold them altogether for $20. I have several other sets. He was happy and so was I.

If you're looking for a set maybe try posting a wanted ad on cl.

With expedited shipping, you might get them by Saturday, but probably Monday or Tuesday.

Fingers crossed! I ended up pulling the trigger on the 12 piece set. Ended up spending more than I wanted but after considering purchasing the single 21mm it was the same price as getting the larger set so I just went for it. Hope they show up sooner than later however...ended up paying $156 which I suppose isnt terrible in the grand scheme of things assuming I'll have them for life.

Thanks guys! Yeah I figured it out but took me a lil while as it originally translated until I clicked on a new page. I found a button on the top right of the browser using chrome and I was able to translate it again when needed!

All in all Im very excited for them to arrive and put them to work. I ended up spending more than I anticipated however after looking at the numbers knowing I wanted a 21mm it made sense to go for the large set. I cant say I need all of those wrenches but you never know until you're in a situation where they could save the day. And I can't remember the last time I said to myself, boy I wish I had less tools!

If anyone wants to know, if you buy the stahlwille set in the foam tray it comes with 21mm instead of 20mm.

It’s called tcs 20/8.

20/8 in the pouch has 20mm not 21mm

I have a pet peeve with many many sets coming with the 20mm instead of 21mm because I never use 20mm for anything automotive and the 21mm is common for strut top nuts.

I'll second that... those are bomb-*** offset wrenches and dang close to 90 degrees.

The Stahlwille have a steeper offset than the old Craftsman pro USA; I have both. I've had a few situations where the Craftsman wouldn't work so I bought the Stahlwille; I haven't had the reverse situation where the Stahlwille wouldn't work and the Craftsman would.

The "wille" part of Stahlwille is the last name of the founder, Eduard Wille.

Nice wrenches though. The Stabil (deep offset) and Corona (shallow offset) are some of the best.

We use the Stahlwille deep offsets for Valve adjustments on Cat engines, 9/16 for the small engines , 3/4, 22mm and 24mm for the adjuster lock nuts on the larger engines, they keep your knuckles well clear of the valve gear which will skin you if you try use standard wrenches.
