I have a 12' ceiling and I use high bay LED for working and they are excellent. However I frequent using the shop as my entrance instead of the actual front door. My issue is turning on those high bay led on in middle of night isn't much fun when I forget the dimmer is still on full bright instead of dimmed down. so I want to add some deep recessed light. I don't need them to be work light, just like a "see where to go light" just illuminate the floor like I've seen in some movies, can't see the person until they walk under the light.

I looked at canned light option, but I was told to stay away from them and stick to canless LED by quite a few people, but I am having hard time finding LED canless system that is deep and doesn't cost so much like 100 bucks each. Should I just stick to old fashioned can system for this particular setup? Or is there another better way of doing this?

I have plenty room in the attic so depth isn't a issue.

Did these people give you a reason to stay away from caned lights? I have them in the kitchen, living room etc. I used LED bulbs in them and prefer them over canless LEDs because the bulbs are easily replaced when they die - you just need to match the color temperature. With canless, you may not be able to find a matching replacement if one dies.

Not sure why you're struggling to find them. There's hundreds of them out there. Maybe have a look for smaller versions which are very popular. Above picture is a 2". Some of these small ones put out as much light as a larger 6" version. This particular one is from EnvisionLEDlighting.com. They're a pro manufacturer that only sells via your local supply house.
Good luck,
