I just picked up a spray cabinet parts washer and I was wondering if anyone had any home grown defoam-ing tricks for the wash solution? Something I could get easy locally instead of ordering an expensive agent on line.

Pam cooking spray works in a dishwasher when someone has put dawn in it. Don't know if it would work on parts washer fluid or not.

#1- Using a proper soap cleaner helps.

#2- Or drop by your local hot tub spa store and pick up a small bottle of anti foam drops ( liquid silicon) . A drop or two in a large 8 man hot tub will remove the water surface tension so that bubbles are unable to form.

Mitch,
First of all like the others said, if you use a high quality soap and keep the temp up where it needs to be, you usually wont have any problems. Also, you have to have enough soap in the solution, not enough is worse than too much believe it or not.

That being said, we used to have some foaming once in a while with new soap and water and we found that Downy fabric softener helped. Haven't needed to use it in quite a few years though. We use the ZEP Split recirculating detergent in ours.

I was an appliance service man for 20 years, you learn a lot of things to fix what customers have done. Pam works great for suds filled dishwashers. Just takes a couple of drops of dawn to fill a dishwasher with suds. 10 Seconds spray with Pam, run dishwasher and all the suds are gone.

Mitch,
That almost looks like it is made to use with a "pressure washer" where it is a one time use deal ? Could be wrong. The soaps made for spray cabinets generally do not give you a range for light or heavy cleaning. They tell you what strength to mix the solution to, period. You might want to check with the manufacturer to make sure that stuff is definitely made for your type of machine. That stuff is cheap too, the stuff we use is twice that price. Sometimes you get what you pay for :)
