Dehumidifier purchase

Decided to experiment with a portable dehumidifier before shelling out big bucks for a quality one.

Found a brand new Hisense DH70K1G, 70 pint unit, in the box on Craiglist for $120. Bought it home and set it up. WOW is this thing loud! Also puts out a lot of heat. Read the reviews on it and see little noise complaints. Should have read the reviews first, but would not have stopped me from buying.

Loud is subjective, way louder than my refrigerator or my mini AC, dishwasher etc. Do not have a decibel meter but annoyingly loud. If I had bought this in a store I would return it!

Anyone have a portable brand that is quiet, that they like?

I’ll be watching this. I have to say, if I kick mine it quiets down. Seriously though, for mine, it was fine, but lately the filter frame makes a racket, so I might try some tape in the edges to tighten up the fit. Maybe it’s not the motor, but something else making yours loud?

Humidity flows higher to lower so it doesn't necessarily have to be in the same room.

I just bought this one a couple of weeks ago and I like it. It is fairly quiet but it's in my unfinished basement anyway so I wouldn't care if it was louder.
