They don't seem to get the greatest reviews on amazon, and that's an "interesting" site you bought them from... Good luck though, dehumdifiers seem to be one of those items that everyone hates. Can't say that I've seen one with great reviews ever.

I bought a Santa Fe Classic several months back. Talk about a serious machine. Not cheap but worth it. Keeps the basement dry and no more musty basement smell.

I only have problems in the spring. Cold weather types are about 2 times the price.

Wow they got really bad reviews. Maybe I will try to cancel.

Hey thanks for the tip guys. I sent them an E-mail and my order was canceled and refunded.

I think I dodged a bullet.

Take a look at Hi-E Dry industrial dehumidifiers. They work really well and have a reputation for reliability. http://www.thermastor.com/HI-E-DRY-100/ , they also have one larger commercial model as well as some residential ones.

Looks like a good dehumidifier but the Santa Fe Impact XT has it beat in price and energy consumption for the same size unit. It looks like my only options for a good commercial unit will be one big one rather than 2 smaller units. Might not be this year cuz these are really expensive.

I just purchased a Santa Fe Classic this week off a state surplus auction site for $375($1600 list). I am planning on installing it in the unfinished portion of my basement with intake and exhaust vents and a dehumidistat to control on the finished side. I am excited about the ability to control the humidity in the "man cave" to make sure it is always perfect. They are great units with a ridiculous capacity and are relatively energy efficient. They do show up occasionally on eBay and other sites and are worth waiting for.

I have a GE unit I purchased about 8 years ago from Home depot for a couple hundred bucks. Has worked flawlessly all this time. It cycles as required and has done a great job in my shop.

Does the space have HVAC? Seems like a mini split would condition the space to control moisture plus you get the benefit of AC and Heat for not much more that you were going to spend on the dehums.

Just a fan might take care of that?

A fan would take the condensation off the beams and tools but I'm not sure it would decrease the actual room humidity. I'm concerned about my machine tools. Certainly getting the moisture off would help.

That's actually the plan at the moment. I'm a little north of you if my temperature humidity data logger indicates that I only have above 50% when the temp is above 50°F then I should be able to get away with one of those.

I think you will be pleased with one. If your going to go any further I would put a minisplit in instead of high dollar dehumidifiers. That is my next move when I get a chance.

Just a comment in general about dehumidifiers. Several years ago, on a whim, I went out to Menards and bought a dehumdfier (think it was a couple hundred bucks). Stuck it in the basement and piped it to the floor drain.

Damn, what a difference! Don't get the musty smell anymore, and the basement just feels so much more comfortable. And the dehumidifer has been going strong for several years now, just kind plug it in and forget about it, then unplug it during the winter.

Highly recommend one if you have a basement.

Well I am very glad I returned the ones I ordered. I just picked up a Santa Fe Advanced 2. I thought I was going to need 2 of these but now I'm sure I will get away with 1. This unit is only rated about 20% larger than the LG household unit it replaced see last pic but it appears to outperform it by 100%. The LG unit was on at all time this unit is on 50% of the time. Of course its $1400 vs $300 maybe that has something to do with it.

This is all I use and it lasts 6 months and only costs me $9 every time. It works great.

Nice!! I'm about 30 mi. NE of Richmond, VA, and have been giving serious thought about getting a dehumidifier for my shop. The hot, humid, weather this summer is starting to take a toll on the shop equipment.

Where did you buy this Santa Fe unit?
