the link isn't working, what brand of engine does it have? if I were buying a generator that size it would have to be a honda engine.

Looks like the same ol' generic Chinese import with a Honda "clone" engine. Generators are one of those things where good ones aren't cheap and cheap ones aren't good.

Honda does make 11,000W Generator The EB11000. It has a water-cooled engine.

Look at northerntool.com they have a wide selection of generators and have genuine honda engines and name brand generator heads on their units

My advice is you get what you pay and go bigger then what you need so the generator doesnt have to work as hard.

i do belive in going bigger than what is needed, one reason i was looking at the 10k dek, as its not going to be an every day use just for power outages and what not, and i cannot justify the 3k for the eb11000 though it certainly is nice with the 50amp plug

northern tool and equipment northstar 8000 watt generator item #165914-2001. 6600 running watts, honda engine, 1399.99 before tax. i have this generator and know of many more plus also see some of the 5500 watt models in the area. large fuel tank, heavy frame, long run time, electronic safe, 30 amp plug. they also come with a certificate that shows actual tested output for that generator. i cannot recomend it enough. i added an hour meter , cover and wheel kit. if i am correct most componants are made and assembled here in the usa. i used to have a 5000 powermate with the tecumsah. it made power, but in a nutshell, junk. it never ran right, it made dirty power, the carb was always leaking so it was always varnished up. buy a northstar and do not look back.

that has a real honda engine on the one SK was talking about. The only downside i see to it is no wheeled cart or electric start on that model.

wheel kits are easily made and that is an easy starting engine. it also fit in his price range. i have often thought that the added features on the more expensive versions of that would be nice but all i really need it to do is make electricity. it did that flawlessly powering my home and well for a week after an ice storm knocked the lines down. in an emergency that is all you really need
