Haven't finished wiring, benches, or anything really but had some dead lines and needed to get back to work. Two pictures of me messing up the nice, new shop.

I need to wire up a couple outlets for the welder this week and if I have time finish the last two work benches so I don't have to use saw horses with them

Been busy putting the shop to use. Still have not finished the wiring but hope to do that this weekend.

Picked up some new toys for the shop too.
Finshed welding up the bender today, shipment of over 20 sticks of DOM should be here next week...

Still need to build a base for it, may end up just making a mount on the new welding table.

Lastly I scored a free welding table! Stainless top too!

It is a ProBender. Uses ProTool dies, is a vertical bender so if you have a high roof it is a great bender and requires less room. Is also air over hydro so makes bending effortless... If you are interested in one let me know, I am dealer for both them as well as Pro Tools.

This weekend I finally finished my wiring with outlets on all the walls. Each wall has its own circuit, there is also one for the welder/plasma with an outlet on each wall, and one more for the compressor. All are also GFI protected.

Side 1. Has the shop computer, shelves with random parts and such, and of course the beer fridge for those late nights in the shop.

Had a bunch of random banners sitting around from our dealer accounts so I decided to hang them up along the sides too.

Del,I hate to say it but i think you need to run those wires through some conduit.
Just trying to keep ya safe. other than that you're setup for years of fun.

That is an sweet setup!!! I have been looking at building a shop EXACTLY as yours; 30'X30' with 11' foot walls. My only question is, do you feel that you could fit a 2 post lift in it and have plenty of room once lifted?

I'm concerned about 11' walls not providing a tall enough center to lift a Jeep . Yep.....I tinker with CJ7 Jeeps in my spare time.

Any thoughts on things that I should look out for????

Delmarva, Tell me more about your lights. I followed the Veno thread and it appears you have also. How many and what size are your CFL and are the dimensions of your shop (and how high are the bulbs)? How are they doing in colder weather?

I have been looking for a light calculator to help me figure how many. I see the Veno wished he added a couple to each grid?

Nice set up.

So I have some long over due updates. The shop has had plenty of use over the last few months.

I had 3 vehicles inside with room to still work on all three. Would I do it every day, heck no. But it made out ok.

Also picked up a lift a couple months ago as well:

Half of the shop with the clear floor works great for toy storage and still leaves room for my welding/fab table.

For a minute when I saw you chopped the tub off the red Jeep, i thought you where going to stretch it.. But you have bobtailed her..

Curious on cost of bender with 1-1/4 and 1-3/4 dies, shipped out of the USA to Oman.

Thanks,
Nick.

I was just wondering, and i know im bring up a thread 3 years later, but why did you choose to go with this type of carport over a traditional metal pole shop?

I have the same quad cab LWB dodge and am building a shop based around working on it.

I noticed in a picture when you had the truck inside if didn't seem to have enough room to get a jack in from of it or behind it. Once you're tool cabinets were installed. Would you suggest I got with a longer building like 35' instead of 30?

Also, if all I was working on in the shop was my LWB truck do you think a 24' wide shop would work with tool cabinets around the sides?

Thanks for the tips. After the posts about the wiring I had my friend come back out to help me out. Well my buddy Scott (thats an electician) stopped by and after he finished laughing he helped me out...

Re-wired that bench light:

Added boxes to the exterior lights:

Also since I has some 14-3 we could use one wire for both light circuits to help clean up the wall.

Inside of the box. My side vs Scott's side

Started on the boxes for the over head lights. Making 9 of these. 3 rows of 3 and they will sit between the rafters.

Located in Salisbury, MD.

And the door issue was supposed to be fixed today but they no-showed once again!
Where did u end up placing ur lift? I'm in process of building 30x30 now. Was thinking 2 foot from side wall 15 feet in
Got the over head lights wired up. Just waiting for them to come in (hopefully tomorrow)

Ken here from BuildThreads, Inc.

Congrats and nice work DelmarvaOffroad - this build thread was chosen as a Best Build Thread pick for this week.
hat_tip.gif

What this means is that a bunch of guys who like to build stuff (cars, trucks, 4x4s, bikes, cabins, boats, planes, and garages) and have read a ton of build threads, thought that this build thread makes a valuable contribution to online DIY culture.

So, without further ado:

Congrats again and cheers!
