So I finally bought a vintage delta 40-440 with the variable speed reeves system. After cleaning it up I took the gear box apart to inspect everything... And it looked good. Reeves pulley was stuck, so I fixed that. Then I saw that the upper plunger was wore through the brass square rod. So I went to ebay. These Assemblies are costly at $80 bucks. That's just a little less than I paid for the saw. So I thought let's make one. I ordered some brass square tube from online metals. The square tube was .3125wide x .04 thick. Now this is a thicker wall tube but it's all I could find. So I made new upper jaws as well there just narrower than the OGs. So fare the saw works great. I never really intended on using this as a scroll saw. I just wanted to use a larger blade in it and use it to cut out inside cuts for router templates. And then there's the fact it's just really kewl. Anyways hope this helps someone. Also how smooth should this saw run? I see videos of it running with a standing quarter. Mine at high speeds does seem to have some vibration. It is sitting on a cheap rolling stand tho. Also my air pump seems to work but it also spits oil here and there is there a common part to look for like a seal? Thanks
