Delta 6 X 48" sander side cover

Restoring a Delta 6 X 48" belt Sander,
My side cover is tore up. I want to weld some metal and bondo it.
I was wondering if someone who has one of these with a good side cover, would be so kind as to trace a full size pattern of the side guard, and mail it to me.
I will cover postage.
Pattern may be folded once to fit in a manila envelope.
The cover looks like this one.

You might be able to scare up a replacement if you post over on the owwm.org site in the boyd (bring out your dead) forum. The sister site, vintagemachinery.org also has a classifieds section now as well. Both are good sites if you are into older wood and metal working machinery.

Thanks Guys, I would try to buy a cover, but I am hoping to sell this one when I am done, and don't want to put any more money into it.
They are getting up to $60.00 for the covers.

I got it done. I could have put a little more time and effort into the finish, but for what it is, I called it good.

Looks good! Those covers take a beating!!! When the belt is brand new and sharp is when they go off coarse and damage the side cover. Before you can correct it the cover is damaged.

Looking for a lower dust cover/vacuum hookup.

Will need to weld and resto my side cover as well.

Yeah, I'll leave it off before I start the sander for the 1st time.
Get it tracking in the middle, and then install the cover.

You can repair them with JB weld if you cant weld it.
Seem to be some type of pot metal.

l think these things come out of schools too sometimes, and when the belt goes off track, the kids just let them run.
I had to fix my powermatic sanders guard too.
The school had pop riveted a patch on the inside and the out side, I took the patch(es) off, and tack welded the gap, and then fiberglassed and painted it.
Added these thumbscrew knobs from e bay, in place of the 5/16" nuts.
The acorn nuts were missing.
They were only $10.00 shipped for 10 of them.

It has a couple of the corners broken off.

They are cast aluminum.

Previous owner tried the JB Weld fix. Didn't last.

I'd like to get a new one, or have it welded.

Welding aluminum is beyond my technical abilities.
