Hey guys, been a while... I took a while off but am back!

I am trying like heck to reinstall the little pole/pointer pin that goes on the left side through a little brass looking grommet that has a spring inside and can't for the life of me figure out how to get it back in. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Thanks! -John

I had the same problem on the rebuild of my 1944 DP220 and it remains that way more than a year later. I was told that the brass holder (mine is brass though yours may not be) really needs to be removed from the head after which you could reinsert the pointer into the holder before pressing it back into the head.

Bummer, sounds just like mine. I haven't the slightest idea either on how to remove that brass piece. Oh well, I guess I'll just leave it as is. Thanks for the info!

I got my indicator in OK just by fiddling w/it. I used the pointed end to push-back the spring, then I used a small piece of wire to hold it back, then removed the indicator altogether, while I inserted the other end of the indicator as it's supposed to be.

FYI, look on your worktable and see what date is cast-into the underside. Mine was Nov. 8, 1944, so it was built during the Battle of the Bulge in WW II. If you search for a post by me about my DP 220, you can see the pic of the foundry date.

Thanks for the info. I'll have a look but I don't think it's original, possibly. Its a larger production table that moves up and down with a crank handle.
