Posting this for my father- he probably got it for like 50 cents or something with his luck. Before and After:

Very nice work. Hard to believe the Before and After presses are the same animal.

Thanks for the compliments, no re-plating was done on the fixture; It's a thick gauge of brass on top, and solid aluminum on the bottom. A little sanding, some steel wool, with final polishing on a buffer.

Nice job on the press. I got a little déjà vu when I saw it.

That looks great too! How did you shine up the column? I have a Scotch-Brite wheel I'm considering using on mine but I'm not positive yet. Thanks.

Hey could any of you guys with this press tell me what size bolt the thumb screw is that holds the handle in place? Thanks

Hey Bobioz,
They could be twins! Almost anyway. Like the color on it, good choice! Sorry Pavement, I do not have that drill in my possession, so not sue what size that is.

Yes, he does need a new pulley for it, unless he makes sure not to use that top groove.

Thanks nines, he's very happy with it, and the light was probably his favorite part of restoring it.

Thanks. I spun the column with all thread, a drill in a vise and a jack stand with an oil soaked rag. Someone on here posted the idea and it worked well. Redneck lathe I think he called it. Just keep moving up in sand paper til you like the shine. It went really quick.
