Found this jointer on the side of the road... Rusted, but not that old... I cleaned up the table, and the motor works... Anything particular I should know about these...
I sanded the table with 120 - 220 - 360 - and a coat of wax, and I've started taking it apart inspecting it piece by piece...

Check the blades for nicks and to see if they're still sharp. If you have to remove them to get them sharpened, it can be tricky to get them aligned correctly so they cut straight, but there are jigs available to make that job easier.

Check the tables for parallel.

Should be a fun project, and get a quality machine out of too.

Free is always good.

Buy new blades if they are available. Getting the blades sharpened correctly can be a pain.

Thanks - Free always makes thing more important...lol
I would probably never buy a jointer, but since I found it, now all of a sudden I want one... The blades looked OK, I'm going to look at them better tomorrow, if they're decent, I may see how they cut, since I've heard they can be tricky to align. I'll play around with the table, since that can be a pain to level the corners (I've read)...

If needed, rockler.com sells a magnetic knife setting gauge. I've found it essential to getting all three knives set at the same height. Having the indeed and out feed parallel is absolutely necessary. Depending on the condition of the machine, you may have to shim the outfield bed to get them parallel. Best of luck! Once you get it adjusted correctly it will be a good cutting machine!
